Tip for other fireworks lovers: there are cruises where you can enjoy the fireworks from the river – I did it last year and it was excellent + they also serve drinks, food and music on board.
The river cruises sound fun, but for the seasick-prone, the fireworks near the South Street Seaport are a good show and there are usually River to River Festival events before the fireworks.
