Every May, the city of Cannes, one of the big attractions on the French Riviera, plays host to one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious film festivals, which makes it the perfect time to visit and stay in your own French Riviera vacation rental from New York Habitat. For over sixty years, actors, directors, and other film professionals from around the world have descended on the town for two weeks of films and ‘fêtes’, while wondering which film will win the ‘Palme d’Or’ (past winners include Scorsese’s “Taxi Driver” and even “Fahrenheit 9/11” by Michael Moore). The festival is undoubtedly the most popular event in Cannes and this is your chance to vacation among the Hollywood elite.
Cannes itself is an ideal location for the festival. In May, the weather is sure to be warm, with the sun glistening off the blue Mediterranean Sea. If you can’t get into a film showing, a day on the beach will not disappoint.
This year, the festival will run from May 14th until the 25th. Over the years, approximately forty percent of attendees have been newcomers, so if you’ve never been but always wanted to go, now is the time! And whether this is your first or fifth Cannes film festival, New York Habitat has a accommodation for you in Cannes.

Gosh, I’ve been planning to go for the longest time. My friend would call me from Cannes ten times a day to make me jealous. It will be fun to travel in May, when the weather’s balmy and the plane ticket prices aren’t murderous. When I finally decide on which apartment to book, I will have nothing else to worry about besides going shopping :-).
My favorite restaurant in the City is La Pizza, owned by the Cresci Family. The pizzeria is located on the quai Saint-Pierre (they also have one in the old city of Nice). If your are planning to have a meal in this restaurant make sure to be seated in the terrace, the view on the Harbor is outstanding. My favorite pizza is the Neptune (the main ingredient is Tuna). Located across the street from the City Hall, and 2 blocks away from the Palais des Festivals this is a perfect spot to enjoy the Film Festival.
