Chocolate has been thought of in many different ways. Over the years it has been seen as a guilty pleasure, an aphrodisiac and a delicacy; all things that just so happen to have been used to describe the great French capitale. Anytime of year Paris has its share of patisseries shelling out home-made cocoa creations, but fall is the one time of the year when the scents of chocolate waft through the streets of Paris (at least by the doors of the Paris Expo center).
Fall, you see, is when the Salon du Chocolat officially opens its doors to the public. We here at New York Habitat have been known to indulge from time to time, and we’ve got dozens of accommodations available for guests to indulge in the city and the chocolates in town for a five-day sejour.
The cocoa bean is undoubtedly the star of the show at the annual Salon du Chocolat. Known more for just the treat wrapped in a Hershey label, cocoa is also a major ingredient in all types of products, including beauty treatments. Taking place in the 10th arrondissement, this year’s show will feature around 140 master chocolate makers and a full program of festive events including a fashion parade, many demonstrations and children’s workshops. The two countries of honor will be Italy and of course, Switzerland. Visitors will learn more than they ever thought imaginable about chocolate and will get the opportunity to indulge a bit too.
The Chocolate Show runs from October 20th, 2011 to 24th, a wonderful time to come to Paris. New York Habitat has dozens of 10th arrondissement apartment rentals available where guests can rest up after a day of indulgence. Here are just a few worth considering:
-This studio in Place des Vosges, Marais – Les Halles (PA-2833) features a lot of natural light and a charming patio.
-This 3-bedroom rental apartment in Champs Elysees (PA-791) will give guests the feeling of royalty in this chateau-like flat.
What’s the greater indulgence, a week in Paris or a week spent eating chocolate?
Spending 1 week eating chocolate is “worst” than spending 1 week in Paris. Paris is such a wonderful city, you do not neeed a reason to go there… Chocolate is known to make you feel better over a difficult time. I believe one week in Paris is more enjoyable than one week eating chocolate….
