Earlier we learned about another Hidden Gem Museum in Paris, and this one was called:Le Musée des Egouts de Paris.
New York Habitat has been helping you discover the smaller, less-visited museums in Paris. This week, we bring you to a small museum, housed in a beautiful eighteenth century building, and features an object that concerns us all: Le Musée de la Monnaie.
Le Musée de la Monnaie (The Money or Mintage Museum), located in the 6th arrondissement, on the banks of the Seine, also serves as a mint. The institution has been minting money in Paris since the ninth century! It has changed buildings throughout Paris but has been at its current location, the Hotel de Conti, since the time of Louis XV. The museum’s collection tells the story of France’s currency from Roman times to present day. You can also see older minting machines and examples of special collectible coins issued by the French mint, including one to commemorate Coco Chanel, just released this past fall. This museum is not only for coin-enthusiasts; the combination of location, building, and collection is sure to peak everyone’s interest.
Le Musée de la Monnaie’s neighborhood, the Latin Quarter and Saint-Germain-des-Près areas, is a wonderful part of Paris to stay in, full of shops, cafés, and restaurants. New York Habitat has numerous accommodations in the 6th arrondissement as well.

Let us know in the comments section. Now we will read about another Hidden Gem museum known as Le Musée Gallieria.
I don’t know if it is a hidden museum but the Musee du Quai Branly nickname MQB. This museum features art, cultures and civilizations from Africa, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas. This convenient location closed to the Eiffel tower is perfect. The museum opened in June 2006….
Musee de L’Orangerie located in the Tuileries Garden (in the same block as the Louvre Meuseum). This museum is an art gallery with a lot of impressionist paintings like Claude Monet, Paul Cezanne etc…
I love getting information like this. I have been looking for places like this to take my family while we are on vacation. These lesser known museums are usually great places to visit, and a lot of times have much information that would otherwise go unknown. Thanks for the blog and the tip about the Musee de la Monnaie!
