2008 Paris Furnished Apartment Market:
Prices fell in 2008 as owners quickly reacted to the recession. This kept business steady compared to previous years. Furthermore, customers choose studio rentals over one-bedroom apartments in 2008 which caused a shift in neighborhoods from St Germain – St Michel – Notre Dame to Marais – Les Halles. This shift was due to the fact that there are more studio apartments available in Marais – Les Halles.
2008 brought steady or declining prices to the vacation rentals market. A strong euro in the 1st half of 2008 and a weak world economy in the 2nd half of 2008 were contributing factors to the flat performance of the market. Furthermore, the high-end market was considerably weaker in 2008 as customers looked for the most economical offerings to meet their needs.

Absolutely, the exchange rate was outrageous when I went to Paris last spring. I really was on a tight budget…. I hope this economic situation will change soon because I have a trip booked for Provence this summer…
This is a good thing, and also the Euro isn’t as high as it has been in recent years so it makes just as much sense to rent an apartment in Paris if you are going to be there for a week or more…
As a parisian owner I really hope that the next Market Report will be better!!! In anycase New York Habitat has been doing a great job since the last 5 years.
Paris is an amazing city, and even the exchange rates are not going to stop me from going there. I have rented an apartment just outside the city for the past 3 years and there has never been a hitch. Highyl reccomended!
Great info about the Praris rental market report!!! I love this kind of info.
I think now is a better time to go to Paris (or the Euro zone) because the Euro went down a lot!! This is great….

Hey living for Paris tomorrow, I just checked the exchange rate not as bad as is used to be back in the spring. I am actually staying in a hotel this time but next time I will give a shot at your vacation apartments.
