Many out-of-town visitors flood the streets of New York in search of the city’s vibrant arts scene. Some choose to get their art fix on Broadway by taking in one of Midtown’s world-renowned shows, while others seek to find the next big thing in a little-known music venue in the East Village. One thing all visitors can agree on is the wide accessibility of the arts in the Big Apple. After all, pedestrians are treated to free performances in most of the city’s subway stations and on street corners from the Bowery to Harlem.
Creativity in this city is not limited to adults, and the Children’s Museum of the Arts proves that the biggest imaginations often come in the smallest packages. The city’s creative spirit is reflected in New York Habitat’s accommodations.
Located in SoHo, the Children’s Museum of the Arts is much more than just an exhibition space, the museum is better described as a creative space. The purpose of objects on display is not only to encourage reflection and appreciation but moreover to inspire children to create art themselves. That said, the museum’s collection is impressive. CMA maintains a collection of over 2,000 pieces of art created by young people dating back to the 1930s, originating from over 50 different countries. Daily workshops are the museum’s calling card. Workshop themes change regularly and range from photography, theater set designing, sculpture, animation, performance art and painting. The Childern’s Museum of the Arts follows the belief that each child is a creative being and the diverse workshop offering ensures that each child can find a medium that suits their interest. Consider renting a fully furnished apartment in SoHo to stay close to the museum and the rest of Downtown Manhattan.

I read the blog about the Brooklyn Children’s Museum about a week ago, but the Museum of the Arts sounds like it could be more educational and I might enjoy it more, too. I will have to read more about all of these New York museums that I have not heard much about.
Art for me was always a concept that is traced back to the heart and soul of a child. The Children Museum in Brooklyn seems to have embodied this and more.
Thanks for the idea. The Children’s Museum of the Arts seems like a fun, enjoyable learning experience while our family is visiting New York City.
Fun museum! And right down the street from my apartment.
