Downing Street is famous for being the residence for over 200 years of the Prime Minister and the Chancellor of the Exchequer. Downing street is close to the Houses of Parliament and Buckingham Palace, in Westminster. Although Downing Street is open to the public, security makes it difficult to get up close to these famous homes.
