The apartment owners were very friendly, kind and hospitable. I very much enjoyed meeting them and speaking with them. They made me feel very much at home. And gave many helpful suggestions.

This place provides good basic lodging. It's not too fancy nor too expensive. I recommend staying here for someone who needs a simple place to stay with a great central location. It's a good value for the Upper East Side.

Thanks so much Simon & Jennifer for making my stay a success!

The apartment was well equipped with a perfect location. The landlords were very nice and welcoming. We came one day later than agreed due to some problem and they were very understanding and kind.

We had some heavy luggages and Jenny and Simon helped us to carry them up to the flat.

You are right, Sylviane, our loft bed is typical of other loft beds, which all take some getting used to.
It was a pleasure meeting both of you!

The location is good, but the apartment is in poor conditions and not very clean; the smell is nauseating and we had to turn on the loud a/c to get to rid of it. It wasn't possible to open the window, because the a/c unit would have fallen off. The only existing bed was laid upon a piece of furniture, and some of my friends in NY told me that to rent an apartment in these conditions is illegal. The second bed was actually a sofa-bed and also of poor quality.
Nice landlords. AC

Dear Antonella,
Thank you for your comments which allow us to improve our service. The apartment was cleaned immediately prior to your arrival. Some guests relate poor condition with the older style furniture we use in this 1870s building. It is not a modern style hotel room. We were surprised to hear about the smell you mentioned. We will definitely research and determine the source. We are aware that some of our guests use somewhat strong perfume or deodorant which may linger in the apartment. We will make sure we check the apartment for any odors before each guest arrives. For the comfort of our guests, we provide a/c from late spring to early fall when outside temperatures can be high. During those times, the window cannot be opened. However, the fan mode of the a/c unit brings in fresh air from outside. Loft beds may not be common in Italy, but they are quite common in sublet apartments in the United States. Our loft bed is exactly as described on the Habitat site for our apartment. Most of our guests have found it comfortable and had no problem with the stairs. Most of our guests are either couples or friends who are comfortable sharing the ample loft bed. We provide the sofa-bed as a courtesy for guests who for medical reasons may not be able to use the loft bed. Due to limited space, the sofa pull-out bed is not as comfortable as the loft bed. We enjoyed meeting you and we are glad that you appreciated the convenient location of the apartment.

The owners, a couple, are very kind and helpful. The area where the apartment is situated is safe and the subway and bus stations are a block and a half away. There are also shops and everything you need in NY.
Regarding the apartment, it is big, with a lot of sun light, silent, with a good bathroom that has a good water pressure. The bed is very comfort even if it is on a higher level, but you can have a good rest.
Things to replace: the rugs because they are old and not very hygienic. On the other hand, it would be a good idea to remove some owners' and previous tenants' elements that are not useful anymore.
It would also be convenient to replace the old air conditioning (it works) for a new one that also helps ventilate the space.
I think that the apartment would just be excellent with just a few changes.
With a low budget, the apartment would be great. It is a pity because of a few things. The owners are lovely.

Dear Anabell,
Thank you for your comments. We enjoyed meeting you and your husband. The AC unit in the apartment is less than a year old and has a fan component to circulate air. Some of the items left by previous guests include tourist brochures and maps which we feel might be useful to current guests. Some of these may be out of date, so based on your comment, we will clear out old materials. The carpets are an antique style and thus look intentionally old. They are thoroughly cleaned between each tenant's stay. We are glad you enjoyed your stay.

The location is terrific, and there was absolutely no noise. The apartment is quite small, cooking is a challenge, and the loft bed is a bit difficult. But for us, these really were minor matters, as there was space for all that mattered, and we happily ate take-out. Hosts on-hand, pleasant, and helpful.

It was a pleasure to meet you and your lovely wife, Keith. Although the apartment is cozy, we believe it makes up for its size in terms of its convenience. As you discovered, there are many local eating options available for take out if the kitchen area seems a little small. Guests are forewarned that the loft bed requires accessing a short ladder. It was nice to meet you on your journey!

The apartment looked exactly like shown on the web, small but very nice and confortable. Jennifer and Simon gave us a very warm welcome and took immediately action once we underlined the need for an overall cleaning of the flat to remove the dust on window, curtains, carpets and in the wardrobe. Given the fact that the area where the flat is located is simply fantastic, I believe that with some little improvements like a general clearing/cleaning of some old stuff (in the wardrobe, lockers of bathrooms and drawers), the location is absolutely recommended for a great stay in New York. Also, the kitchen, although tiny, is perfectly furnished for a nice and romantic dinner for two! Jennifer clearly understood our remarks and I am sure next guests will enjoy even more than we did.

We had a great week in NYC. But the apartment wasn't quite what we expected
from the description on your website. It's very small, with too much
furniture and stuff, it was not possible to open the window, or to look
outside, and the bed in the air with the stairs isn't very comfortable. But
the location is perfect, and it was very quiet.

Our apartment is indeed a small studio apartment in a convenient location. During the summer and early fall we have an air conditioning unit which is essential for our guests' comfort. During that time the window can unfortunately not be opened. We have never had a complaint about the comfort of the loft bed.The photos taken of the apartment on the New York Habitat site reflect the furnishings of the apartment accurately. We have recently added a new somewhat larger TV.

Our experience in that apartment was great. The apartment is small but in a very Good position. The owners provided us all The facilities we needed with great dilingence. The wifi ok and The bed was very comfortable. The only difficulty was due to The lack of The elevator (we arrived at NY after one month in Michigan). However, If I come back to NY, I will book That same apartment!

Apartment was adequately equipped - little note of caution about the kitchen: no colander, no glasses.

Chic neighborhood, everything is close by. Very quiet and ideal to go out for a meal.

The hosts' welcome was very nice, they showed us around the neighborhood, explained everything about the accommodation.

Thank You Marie-Sophie,

A colander, what a great suggestion! We have just purchased one especially for our guests who are pasta-lovers, along with a new set of glasses.

It is a really nice to stay! Well, the location is perfect, near Bloomingdale's, it's easy to get the subway.

Jennifer and Simon are very nice, although they weren't there during our staying, but they solved our problem asap. Yet, since the building is old, there is no elevator, it's kinda annoying to carry heavy luggage and going up and down everyday.

Except that, we are happy to make this decision!

Thank you. Part of the charm of our building is its location in Treadwell Farms, a historic landmark district. This also means that most buildings in the area are not equipped with elevators.

We make a point of helping our guests with luggage up two flights of stairs when they arrive and when possible, upon departure. Most of our guests are here for a one to two week stay and do not have as much luggage as you, Grace, who arrived with multiple bags to begin graduate studies here in the United States!

We enjoyed meeting you and your mother.
