Bedford-Stuyvesant is the perfect mixture of the old classic Brooklyn with its old school barber shops and classic New York delis, and the outpouring of new cafes, bars, restaurants, and shops. Brooklyn Beso (1.2 mi/1.9 km) is a hip, brick-walled restaurant with a peaceful ambiance and back patio; serving up Spanish and Caribbean dishes including arepas with shredded and stewed beef, tostadas, queso fresco, steak, fried potatoes, and many other latin favorites. Saratoga Park, the 2nd largest park in the neighborhood, is a great place to jog or relax. There is a YMCA (1.3 mi/2 km) in the neighborhood; a community focused non-profit that offers community residents programs and services including day care services, gyms, swimming, arts programs, day camps, basketball courts, and much more!
The subway at Chauncey Street/Broadway (0.3 mi/0.5 km) connects you to the J and Z lines, while the subway at Rockaway Ae/Fulton Street connects you to the A and C lines.

The house is BEAUTIFUL, one of the best I saw in NYC. I gave 2 stars for the location because it takes at least 1 (2/3 in the night) hour to get to Midtown. Building and neighborhoods are okay, it's a good area of Bedford Stuyvesant. The OWNER was the BEST we could ask for, always disposable towards our many problems and request. Me and my roomates lived in the house for three months and we had an overall good experience, as I said the only con is the location and maybe the lack of a/c. |

I really enjoyed having Jessica and the others stay at the house. They were a fun, responsible group of young adults and I tried to make sure everything went well with them and the other tenants here at the house. The neighborhood is great as I have lived here in Bedford Stuyvesant all of my life. I only wish that the city would work a little quicker with the improvements on the "J" train and it's service. Perhaps it'll all be better when you come back to NYC again. I'll keep my fingers crossed! |

The apartment was great, the location very convenient (5 minute walk from the J, 10 from the C, and 15 from the L), and the landlord helpful. It wasn't very quiet-you can hear everything outside and in the rest of the building-but that is pretty normal. The neighbors are welcoming if you get to know them. The landlord is easy to contact and responsive. Most definitely a positive experience. |
