It is a lovely apartment in one of the best locations in Brooklyn. The hosts are exceptionally responsive, kind and helpful. The apartment is huge for a one-bedroom, with very tall ceilings, pre-war details, a wonderful porch and nice bathroom - the brownstone is gorgeous. I'm very glad I stayed here. The problem is the living room sofa is old, small and uncomfortable, the furnishings are generally pretty worn out and in need of major refreshing. The kitchen cookware is not good. I never found a decent frying pan, there are lots and lots of little useless appliances everywhere but no good skillet which I like to use everyday. The bathroom is nice and the bedroom is nice -- only two pillows! -- but comfy and the linens are good. |

We were somewhat hesitant to rent to you, Zachary, because when you viewed our place, you told us everything you thought was wrong with our home, how you would redo it. You had 5 frying pans to use, including two stainless steel, a Circula stir fry, and a Gotham Steel ceramic pan which you used improperly and we had to replace. We cook almost all our own meals, and most guests are grateful for all the appliances we use regularly. Re furniture and artwork, the photos here are accurate. As theatre workers, we have many artist friends. Much of the artwork in the apartment is theirs. You seem to have mistaken some of this cherished, interesting artwork as knickknacks, but you are right, artwork is by its nature "questionable." Most guests appreciate and compliment the art. The leather sofa is ten years old. Except for cat scratches on a back corner, it is barely worn. We are vegan now, so we have been trying to extract leather from lives. The couch is on the list, but it?s too comfortable. My husband is reluctant to surrender it. Pillows? We provide two each for guests and there are numerous clean throw pillows on living room furniture. And 4/5 on cleanliness?? As a fastidious German hausfrau, I?m insulted :). We rent out our home only when we travel for extended periods. We are guests at homes more often than hosts. We have come to appreciate homes that are as represented and hosts that are communicative and responsive to guests needs. We try to do the same. We replaced a working coffee maker and internet router which you claimed needed replacing early in your stay. (When we got home we went back to our own, better-working router but still paid for yours.) We likely would have accommodated any other reasonable request. |

The apartment is spacious, comfortable, clean, and the owners were very responsive to all of our needs and questions. The location to everything Brooklyn and Manhattan offers is unparalleled with dozens of subway options all within a few blocks. The local restaurants were charming and the Halloween party the neighbors put on was the best I've ever seen. You don't just rent here you become part of the community. |
