This fully furnished two bedroom loft apartment is located in Greenwich Village in Manhattan, New York. The loft is on the 4th floor of a 6 story walk-up converted industrial building, originally built in 1890. The building is an artists co-op and all residents are involved in the arts as a career or serious pursuit. On a historical note, this unit (when it was industrial space) sold small ship parts to the ship building industry on the Hudson River. At that time four portholes from the turn of the century were put into the east wall (now the kitchen and bedroom) allowing ambient light and a breeze to cross the space. The front door to the building is kept locked and entry is with your own key or, for visitors, through an intercom system. All residents have access to a communal roof garden.
The loft has maple floors and has been furnished to retain a sense of space and simplicity. For those that like to cook, there is a full-size open kitchen with ample cupboards and counter space and which is equipped with a dishwasher, coffee maker and toaster in addition to all the basic culinary amenities. A dining room table, nestled in one corner, folds out easily for formal dining. A television with cable can also be provided. This apartment also includes wireless Internet, air conditioning and the convenience of a washer and dryer for laundry. Please note that there is a single powerful air conditioning unit to cool the entire loft, which is generally effective for most summer days.
The bedroom is furnished with a queen-sized bed. There is also a small alcove bedroom at the end of the hall, which contains a single size Murphy bed appropriate for a child. In the living room, there is a lofted single size bed appropriate for a child as well, though this is open to the main space, limiting privacy. The bathroom has a bathtub with a shower and features an exposed brick wall. Bed linens and bath towels are provided.
This unit is bathed in light all day long, and especially in the afternoon as six large windows face west, three to the south and six smaller windows to the east. A wonderful view of Greenwich Street winds south towards Battery Park and the sky is open to the west above the relatively low height of the West Village neighborhood.
The building is located on Greenwich Street just off Hudson and Bleecker Streets which are hopping with restaurants, shops, designer boutiques and antique stores to the east; the trendy Meat Packing district offers new restaurants and wine bars to the north. Two blocks to the west is the Hudson River with a walking/biking path that runs for miles. Also, above the Meat Packing district is Chelsea with a fabulous indoor market and, like the village, a seemingly infinite supply of restaurants, stores, bars and entertainment options.
With all the options and fabulous neighborhoods within walking distance, you may never leave the area but public transportation is everywhere. Bus stops abound and the A/C/E/L subway lines are just three blocks north, while the 1/A/B/D/E/F/V are only a 1/2 mile away. Taxis can be hailed anywhere, anytime.
PLEASE NOTE: The second bedroom is furnished with ONLY a small child-sized bed. There is a window in the room, but the apartment has been converted into a 2-bedroom, thus this room is solely a bed for a child.

I had a lot of conversations with the landlord, Sue. She was very sensitive, flexible with her schedule and nice. It was a real pleasure being with her. We had problems with the air conditioning and she helped us very much. She fixed the problem as soon as possible. Her neighbor took care of us as well. |

We greatly enjoyed having Liliane stay in our home for the summer. Her graciousness was tested when our air conditioner failed in the height of the summer heat! She survived without AC while we scrambled, from afar, to arrange for purchase and installation of a powerhouse air conditioning unit. |
