1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom - Sleeps 2

Welcome to central London and your next home away from home! From here in South Kensington, you’ll find the convenience of access to transportation options, as well as the pubs, restaurants, and other attractions in the area. The building itself is located on Queensgate between Cromwell Road and Kensington Road, and is in a walk-up, period building and the apartment itself is located on the lower ground floor.

With 45 square meters (approx. 484 square feet) of fully furnished space across a living area, open kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom, you’ll find plenty of room for upwards of two guests. The living area is comprised of a sofa, dining table with seating for two, a flat screen TV, and a telephone. Your bedroom has a double-sized bed and has a flat screen TV as well and built-in wardrobes. The bathroom is a full bath, complete with overhead shower and tub. The kitchen, open to the living area, is well-equipped to meet your dining needs should you choose to create your own meals; for your use, there’s an oven, stove, hotplates, microwave, dishwasher, and also a washing machine for your laundry needs.

This location is just near Kensington Gardens/Hyde Park, the entrance to which is only 0.1 km/0.1 miles to the north from this one bedroom apartment. As this is located in the area of the Imperial College, you will find plenty of bars, pubs, restaurants, and other similar things to do in the area; as it is quite a popular area, you will no doubt notice there is always something going on, so the noise level might be slightly higher than normal. However, you will never lack things to do! Museums, including the Natural History Museum, Science Museum, and Victoria & Albert Museum are all just around the corner from this one bedroom apartment, about 0.8 km/0.5 miles away to the south. There is plenty of shops and shopping to experience in this area, as well as the upscale shops of Knightsbridge bordering to the east; Harrods, for example, is only 1.4 km/0.9 miles away to the east.

You’ll also have plenty of convenient transportation options, including many bus stops and the London underground (subway) system – the South Kensington station is only 1 km/0.6 miles away to the southeast. For one or two people, this apartment is the perfect place to stay and explore all London has to offer. Close to public transport, shopping, restaurants, museums, Albert Hall, Kensington High Street and Kensington Gardens/Hyde Park.

The owners couldn't be more helpful, it really was like a home away from home.

The apartment offers comfort, security and is in an excellent location. It is just minutes to the nearest bus stop and only a ten minute walk to the neatest tube station. Its proximity to Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, supermarket and various shops also adds to its appeal.

The apartment owners were welcoming and friendly and readily available by email or phone. I felt very much at home!

The apartment has a fantastic location- very central, in a beautiful street, with many transportation options nearby, as well as restaurants and supermarkets. The owners are friendly, and always willing to help. The appartment itself is lovely, and perfect for a couple. We will definetly miss it.

Peter, the concierge of the appartment, was very nice, and helpful.

However, it should be noted that the internet is not unlimiited-- as most people, my fiancé and I use the internet on a daily basis, with a big use of tv shows, downloads, etc... which was not permitted by the owners' very limited wifi contract. We thereby asked to have unlimited internet, something we believed to be normal when you pay £2,750 per month, which they accepted to do-- we were very astonished and shocked by their request for the sum of £50, which should've been already included in the very high rate we paid per month. This we did not believe to be normal, especially since the oven did not work for the month of our stay, so the WIFI could've made up for that.

Moreover, the bathroom does not have any windows, so the accumulation of condensation resulted in fungus appearing around the shower and in the bath, even with the doors and the windows open in the rest of the appartment. A solution should definetly be found for this, as it is not very charming.

In the beginning we did have several other problems (the oven and tvs not working, the window being unable to open, etc...), but the owners were flexible and friendly enough to fix the problems as they came along. That was great.

Thank you Chantal for your comments.
We had had many clients who have rented our apartment in the past and have never had any complaints about the broadband connection. In common with many broadband contracts in the UK, downloads are governed by limits and the more one downloads the greater the cost. We were not aware that the clients wanted to download lots of TV programs and movies from the internet every week. Perhaps it would be useful to make this clear to prospective clients and landlords in future, to ensure that such charges are made transparent at the beginning of any rental contract.

With regard to the electric oven, it was working perfectly normally at the beginning of the client's stay. Chantal and Rudolph rang us a number of weeks later to say that it was no longer working. We therefore instructed engineers to come and repair the oven. Unfortunately, this took some weeks as the parts had to be shipped directly from Italy.

The bathroom, in common with many apartments does not contain a window. It does however contain an extractor fan to remove moisture. The shower tiles do also require reasonably regular cleaning. We did offer to provide our guests with a regular cleaner. However, Chantal and Rudolph declined this offer, saying that they would undertake all cleaning duties themselves.

The TV in the bedroom needed an additional digital TV tuner, due to the switching off of analogue TV signals in the UK, which took place during the client's stay. We therefore provided them with a digital tuner to ensure that they could watch television in the bedroom.

The windows were fitted with double glazing , we asked the engineer to come to ease the bedroom which was a little heavy to open , that was sorted straight away. We lent our bicycle to the guest during the Olympic games so that they could get around easier and didn't charge them for the extra night they spend by arriving a day earlier at short notice.

We have tried to be as helpful and responsive to the guests during their stay in our apartment and I am sorry that Chantal and Rudolph felt that they had had so many issues that they were not happy with.

The apartment was nice, beside the mice problem I had. I waited 5 days for the problem to be solved and it was not, so I left the apartment after 20 days, and I should have stayed 2 months. The owners were very polite and attentive, but I couldn't handle the situation after almost a week dealing with a little mouse pooing around and living in the closet.

Upon receiving this feedback, the owner had pest control check out the apartment and there was no infestation found. The apartment was exterminated and traps were set. There have been no further reports of mice in the apartment since the time of this rental period.
