Perfectly situated at West 76th Street and West End Avenue in New York City, this Upper West Side one bedroom is the ideal combination of great Manhattan location and luxurious interiors. Lavishly furnished, this ground floor apartment is in a townhouse. A video intercom entry system guards the entrance of the building for your security.
The one bedroom features both carpeting and wood flooring, and you’ll love the eclectic antique furniture that distinguishes the apartment. The living room offers numerous seating options such as armchairs, a dining area, and a sofa. Underneath the sofa you’ll find a pull-out double trundle bed. A television with cable is also included. Wireless internet is accessible throughout the apartment. There’s plenty of storage space thanks to the chest of drawers and full closet available in the main living area.
Both your bedroom and the living room have decorative fireplaces, and the apartment retains its original woodwork and chandeliers. The windows provide both eastern exposure onto the street, and western exposure towards the back garden area.
The bedroom is separated from the living room by sliding glass doors. Here you’ll find more armchairs and a sofa that pulls out into a queen-sized bed. This is an American Leather Queen-sized sleeper sofa. It is unlike many standard sleeper sofa with a unique design and no bar underneath or springs, much like a regular bed.
In the kitchen you’ll find all the utensils and appliances you’ll need for your visit, and also a dishwasher. Please note that the bathroom is directly off of the kitchen. The individual shower stall is separate from the toilet in the European style, and the shower door opens directly into the kitchen.
The Upper West Side is a fantastic neighborhood, and you are just a short walk away from many of its most impressive attractions. One street to the west will take you to Riverside Park, one of New York’s signature parks, with paths for jogging and biking, great views of the riverfront and New Jersey, and lovely greenery. To the east you’ll find Broadway, the area’s main commercial strip with shops, restaurants, bars, and perhaps NYC’s most beloved grocery store, Fairway Market. Central Park and the Museum of Natural History are a few more blocks to the east of your apartment. Both the 1 train at 79th Street and Broadway (.2 miles or 320 meters) and the 1, 2, and 3 trains at 72nd Street and Broadway (.3 miles or about 1/2 a km) are easily accessible, providing quick access to destinations throughout the city.
Please note that the available accommodation is located in a duplex apartment-- the owners occupy the garden level of the apartment.

While it is true that the bathroom is small, the rest of the apartment is huge, and better furnished, including the amazing fixtures, than any other place we have rented. The owners were also quite interesting & available. All in all a great experience. |

I liked the apartment very much. Great space. I liked the antique building, it was an old building. The only thing was that it was a little dark when you first walk into the building, but overall it was a great apartment. I will recommend it. |

The location of the apartment was excellent......in the very heart of the Upper West Side. It was very convenient for shopping, particularly to such popular neighborhood places as Fairway, Citarella's, Zabar's, & Trader Joe's. I was accompanied by my Service Dog, and Riverside Park was but a block away. The building itself was quaint and well maintained from all appearances. I was very disappointed with the size of the bathroom, and particularly the shower, which was barely large enough for me to turn around in! (I'm 5'9", 155 pounds, not exactly a big guy!). The bathroom space was so tiny that I could barely stand up and wash my face! I was under the impression that I would have a bedroom, and was surprised to see that what was available to me in terms of sleeping accommodations was basically a parlor set-up with pull out couch. I was, after all, paying what I consider to be top dollar, and feel that I did not exactly get every penny's worth. Despite these obvious flaws, I would CONSIDER it for future rental IF there are two basic improvements made. Firstly, I would ask that a chest of drawers be made available to me to store my clothing. There was none, and I was compelled to lay my things out on a couch for my entire stay! I would also ask that a floor lamp be added to provide adequate illumination for nightime reading. There were several table lamps, but none of them located in proximity to the comfy armchairs. Wall lamps and chandeliers did provide room lighting, but totally insufficient for reading purposes. I met with my landlady a few times, and she was most gracious in my dealings with her. |

Further to this review, New York Habitat passed along the feedback to the owner and visited the apartment. The owner added a chest of drawers for additional storage space. The owner feels that there is adequate lighting in the apartment and that it is OK if tenants wish to move a lamp closer to the arm chairs. The shower is an individual shower stall with no tub. It is of standard size. The water closet is compact in size and New York Habitat has edited the description of the apartment so that this information is better disclosed on our website. |
