This one bedroom apartment is found in the quiet and safe Park Slope neighborhood of Brooklyn, very close to Manhattan, on 12th Street near 5th Avenue. You will be on the garden level of a lovely historic 4-story (equivalent to the European 3-story), 1870's Victorian home on a charming residential street near the landmark, Prospect Park. Please note: There is a large washer and dryer in the apartment which is used periodically by the owner (she'll arrange a convenient time with you (such as when you are out).The garbage and recycling will be collected weekly. If desired, the apartment can also be cleaned during your stay. Tenants should be aware that this is a old house. The owner might need to adjust the hot water or reset a fuse in the basement. The owner lives in the house and will do it right away if needed, and will make sure to alert tenants before going downstairs. Even so, she will not need to access the apartment.
The apartment is in an excellent, very desirable location. The subway at 4 Avenue/9 Street is only 3 minutes /3 blocks away (the R, G, and F lines). These can connect you quickly to every subway in NYC. Your host lives in the upstairs triplex and will provide an outstanding booklet for travel and home tips, neighborhood restaurants, and suggestions for cultural and tourist activities.
Park Slope is a gorgeous and quaint Brooklyn neighborhood, known for its beautiful brownstones, family activities and friendly neighbors. The neighborhood is teeming with cultural activities, playgrounds, shopping, restaurants, and bars. There are 30 blocks of excellent restaurants, bakeries, and bars, as well as sports facilities like the YMCA, NY Sports Club, a movie theater, and vintage and discount shopping. Bikes can easily be rented. In good weather, some streets are closed to cars for restaurant dining, while kids play sports and board games in the street. Across the street is a supermarket, and Commonwealth, a friendly bar with an indie-rock jukebox, pinball machine, & patio. Check out gorgeous Prospect Park (0.8 mi/1.3 km), with ice skating and free events, and visit the beautiful Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, and the world renowned Brooklyn Museum of Art.
