Enjoy this beautifully decorated one bedroom apartment on the garden level of a low-rise brick building in Chelsea, Manhattan. The apartment features antique furnishings which fit the century-old building well, and has a southern exposure looking out over the private garden. The apartment is near the intersection of 20th Street & 9th Avenue.
The living room of this apartment has three beautiful sash windows as well as a glass-panel door leading to the garden, so you can enjoy much natural light. The garden is enclosed, with patio furniture and decorative statues adding to the ambiance. Inside, the living room has painted-brick walls, a sofa, reading table and wooden bookcase, making this the perfect place to relax with a good book. There is also a small flat screen television with cable access on the desk in this room. The living room leads to the dining area, where you will find a round wooden table that seats six next to a decorative brick fireplace. The open kitchen is also part of this area, and features dark-wooden cupboards, a real New York limestone counter and no less than two sinks and deluxe stainless steel appliance. There is a walk-in closet in the apartment, and the bedroom contains an antique wooden double bed and also overlooks the garden. Lastly, the bathroom is tastefully furnished with a large mirror and New York limestone tiles.
The one bedroom rental can be found in a coveted location at West 20th Street between 9th Avenue and 10th Avenue. It is part of the vibrant Chelsea neighborhood, which boasts some of the best parks, galleries, restaurants and bars in NYC, as well as the famous Chelsea Market. Just two blocks away from the apartment you will find the High Line: an former elevated train-track converted to a park that meanders through the city buildings, over the streets. Take a stroll to gaze over New York City rooftops, or sit down on one of the wooden benches for some nice sunbathing. Just one block west of the High Line you will find the Hudson River Park with an amazing view of the Hoboken skyline on the other shore of the river. For a great place to have brunch, look no further than Cookshop, which is just 500 feet (152 meters) away from the apartment. Three blocks south you will find one of the best pizzerias in town: Artichoke Basille’s Pizza. This pizzeria lies at the northern border of the Meatpacking District, which is a beautiful cobble-stone-street neighborhood with amazing clubs and shops. Between these two neighborhoods there is enough to do to keep you entertained for years. However, should you feel the need to explore other neighborhoods in the city; you can catch the A, C, E or L lines at the 14 Street / 8 Avenue subway station just 6 blocks from the apartment. The local C, E and 1 train stations are even closer, just 5 blocks away at the 23 Street / 8 Avenue subway top. Take the 1 or 2 trains at the 18 Street / 7 Avenue subway stop (0.5mi/0.8km).
Please note that there is an unavailable room situated to the front of the apartment - this will be locked off and inaccessible to tenants.

The apartment owner was easy to communicate with, on site and available and flexible. The apartment is a charming example of a New York brownstone garden apartment. Because it is at the lowest level, it is dark, but the charm of the furnishings more than compensate for the lack of natural light. The location is terrific for sightseeing with easy access to the Highline, Chelsea Market and the new Whitney. A great short term living experience! |

I loved living in this apartment. It felt like an oasis of calm after a busy day. Bob went well beyond being a landlord, sending me Happy Thanksgiving messages on my phone and staying in touch. The apartment is great for sleeping, since the bedroom is in the back and shielded from city lights and street noise. I slept much more soundly than I have in any hotel. A minor negative is that the antique couch is really hard. |

Thank you Bob for your wonderful and kind words in your review of your stay at my Garden Apt. You were an excellent tenant, Quiet, conscientious, very clean and a fellow bike rider. Indeed, the building is bike friendly and close to the HUDSON RIVER bike trail and the Highline. |

The apartment is in the delightful neighbourhood of Chelsea, in a historic town house. Between Mid-town and Down-town Manhattan, it is a great place to explore the city. |

The Chelsea apartment was fantastic. It was really nice and cozy. Perfect. Your work was impeccable. Sure the prices are high, very high and it is difficult to return to New York soon. Anyway, thanks for everything and see you soon. |
