This 1 bedroom apartment is on the second floor (considered 1st by Europeans) of a typical and authentic 4-story brownstone building in Hamilton Heights, in the upper part of Manhattan, New York. It offers a double exposure, towards north on the street and south on a garden.
The apartment has vintage furniture in keeping with the building's old world feel. It’s adorned with paintings throughout the rental and its living-room features hardwood floors and a massive fireplace with a large mirror on top of it, neatly combined with stylish designer furniture. The reception area is furnished with a comfortable sofa, two seats and a wooden coffee table just in front of two floor-to-ceiling windows to enjoy natural daylight. As for the open kitchen, it features the major appliances, utensils you might need, a large countertop to cook and sizeable wooden cupboards matching the apartment’s style. The bedroom also has an original fireplace, a queen bed, several closet and drawer spaces and overlooks a garden.
On West 142nd Street and Broadway, this rental is located in a thoroughfare district with plenty of restaurants and especially exotic ones! As for major attractions, you can visit the Hamilton Grange National Memorial, 4 blocks from you, or take a stroll to Riverside State Park and its sports complex by the Hudson River, only 0.4 mile (640 meters) away. Four blocks from the City College of New York (CUNY) and a mile (1.6 km) or 3 subway stops from Columbia University, this apartment is a great place to live in for college students! Indeed, the 145th Street subway station, four blocks from your brownstone, can take anywhere on the 1 line and thus anywhere in New York City via connection(s)! Central Park and the Upper West Side are for instance only 4 stops away! However our advice is to check this neighborhood out; how about going to a Baptist Church and discovering what a Sunday gospel mass really is or have a taste of soul food or visit one of the many historic sites nearby, such as George Washington's headquarters!

This apartment was in a great location! Laundromat was around the corner, little mini mart for things you needed and a bigger store a couple blocks down! Tons of little restaurants and a subway station 3 blocks up! It was in great condition and I enjoyed staying here for a short period of time while going to school. The owner and property manager were very easy to work with and helped me with any questions I had. |

Highlights: We loved our apartment! It was quiet and quaint. I was impressed with the apartment size and could not have found a better place to spend my summer. The neighbors were SO KIND. |

The furniture in the apartment was really dated, the window frames do really need a change and the stairs and its landing need a makeover. I would have appreciated it if an airconditioner was installed in the mind- boggling heat of June. |

Thanks for your review Uche. The apartment is located in a brownstone and has vintage furniture in keeping with the building's old feel. I have checked that the staircase going up to the higher floor is fine. |
