Entirely renovated in 2013, this one bedroom apartment offers a contemporary decor warmed up with traditional features such as brick walls and hardwood floors. You'll find this apartment at East 85th Street and York Avenue, two blocks away from the official residence of the mayor of New York City! This residential and quiet area of the Upper East Side named Yorkville is located only one subway stop away from Midtown Manhattan, making it a good option for those who prefer a relatively tranquil neighborhood, but are still want to enjoy the proximity with midtown. The apartment lies on the 3rd floor of a 5-story walk-up building with a security system.
You will appreciate the total privacy that this one bedroom apartment offers, with the bedroom and living room on opposite sides of the apartment. Two southern-exposed windows in the living area brighten the space and overlook trees and gardens, and the white walls and open plan layout help give a sense of greater space. The living room is furnished with a sofa facing a flat-screen TV with cable and offers plenty of seating space for guests. The open kitchen is fully equipped with all the basic appliances to cook at home, as well as a microwave and dishwasher. The all white bedroom offers a calm sleeping space and features two windows overlooking the tree-lined street. It connects to an office with a desk that you can use at your work space. A big advantage of this apartment is its storage space. In addition to the chest of drawers in the bedroom and cabinets of the bathroom and kitchen, you will find three closets in this apartment to store your belongings.
Away from the hustle and bustle of the rest of Manhattan is this section of the Upper East Side named Yorkville. Residential but still full of small businesses, restaurants and coffee shops, it is a quiet place to live and offers easy access to many places of interest such as:
Carl Schurz Park and Gracie Mansion: with its winding paths, green lawns, basketball courts, this park will be the perfect spot to stroll, relax or play sport and enjoy the waterfront views. The park hosts Gracie Mansion, official residence of the NYC mayors. You'll find it down the street form the apartment.
Historical sites: walk three avenues west and check out the Jeffersons Building (officially called Park Lane Towers) symbolizing luxury living in the 1970s; or the New York Society Library one mile (1.6 km) away, the oldest cultural institution in New York.
Museum Mile: less than a mile away (1.6 km) is this stretch of 5th Avenue from 82nd street to 108th Street that houses many world famous museums such as the MET (Metropolitan Museum of Art), the Guggenheim, Neue Galerie New York or the Whitney Museum of American Art.
Central Park: enter the park on 85th street and admire the natural beauty of the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir and the views of the city skyline!
Restaurants: typical French cuisine is served at Cafe D'Alsace 0.5 miles (750 m) away; and even closer is the Italian Cavatappo Grill (0.4 miles / 600m) or the Greek Ithaka (0.3 miles / 650 m). If you wish to cook at home, you'll find a fruit and vegetable market right around the corner, and lots of stores and delis on 86th Street and 2nd Avenue.
The 2nd Avenue Subway just 2 blocks away on 86th Street for the Q train. Another option is at 86 Street / Lexington Avenue served by line 4, 5 and 6. Lines 4 and 5 conveniently run express to 59th Street (only one stop). There are also many buses running north and south along either York Avenue and 1st Avenue, including express buses.

It is an excellent cosy clean apartment in a calm neighborhood on York Avenue. The kitchen equipement is perfect;I was able to cook everyday my favorite dishes. The apartment is close to a lot of amenities, such as Duane Reade, Barnes and Noble, Shake shack, Best Buy, Fairway, Wholefood Market, H&M, Vitamin Shoppe and many other typical american shops......Also, it is close to the 86th subway station which is an express one that connects you very fast to Lower Manhattan. It is close to Central Park and the MET too :) |
