This furnished room for rent is located on the fourth floor (considered 3rd floor by Europeans) of a 4-story townhouse at 116th Street & Second Avenue in the East Harlem neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City. There is buzzer security system and air-conditioning in the apartment for your convenience.
Please note, this a shared apartment. The bathroom and kitchen will be shared with a roommate. There is private access to the bedroom for rent.
Enter the living room where an exposed brick wall compliments the pale yellow walls and black leather furniture found in here. Positioned across from the sofa and coffee table is a large wall-mounted flat screen television that not only benefits from surround sound but the entertainment of a PlayStation 3 with Netflix access and cable. At the other end of the main room is a dining area where a table for 3 can be found. Across from the dining table is the open layout kitchen that also has a bar area with stool, a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee or your breakfast in the morning. In the fully equipped Kitchen you will find a 4-burner gas stove with electric oven, microwave oven, toaster and standard size refrigerator. Two windows with views of a backyard garden in this space keep the yellow and aqua painted space bright and inviting. This teal with white-tiling bathroom features a bathtub with both overhead flood style showerhead plus a handheld showerhead. Shelving over the toilet offers more storage in the space. Back near the entrance of the apartment and the Living Room is the Bedroom, separated from the main space of the apartment through glass-paned French doors that have curtains for even more privacy. Inside the bedroom you will find a queen size bed, dresser and a wall of closets that also feature overhead storage space. Two windows overlooking the street in this room welcome natural light in the space.
Going outside of your apartment you will find all the amenities to make your stay convenient. There is a supermarket one block away on 115th street, a pharmacy around the corner and many coffee shops and restaurants serving all types of cuisine. You will find numerous taquerías around your apartment, a popular Italian restaurant, Rao's, only three blocks away, and Ginger on 5th Avenue and 116th street for healthy servings of Japanese food. If you enjoy museums, head to El Museo Del Barrio located on 5th Avenue and 105th Street to learn about Latin American and Caribbean art and culture. And even if visiting museums in not of interest to you, this area known as East Harlem is so rich in history that it is worthwhile visiting its many cultural institutions reflecting its history. Street art lovers, head to 106th street and Park Avenue to check out the Graffiti Wall of Fame and its collection of street art at its best!
To commute to the rest of New York, take the 6 train at the 116 Street / Lexington Avenue station. It will take you to Grand Central Station, a transit hub where you can transfer to many other subway lines as well as trains to other cities.
