I rented this room for 6 months and I would say it's a great place to call home. The landlord always greets you with a smile and tries to make you comfortable. She was very helpful with our needs and quick to attend to any problems that arise. The apartment and facilities were kept sparkling clean always. I live alone here and could not feel safer anywhere else. The bus stops right in front of the building for easy commuting.
A beautiful, quiet neighborhood, I would definitely recommend it.

I have stayed there for almost three mounts. All of my roommates are kind and quiet, and responsible for shared space or equipment. Kitchen, bathroom, and living room are always clean. Due to fully furnished apartment, I didn't need to bring many stuff, dishes, TV, kitchen tools when I moved in.
Also good location. Close to a bus station which is accessible to Metro train and AirTrain. Close to JFK airport!!

Depending on your personality, the landlord might be the most difficult thing to navigate. The apartment is lovely and the area is quiet and respectful. Theres a rule where you have to give the landlord a heads up before you're allowed an overnight guest. No smoking is allowed in or around the building. There are cameras all over the property that the landlord regularly monitors for un-notified guests. Theres easy access to public transportation.

Daniel, thank you for your review and I'm glad you found the apartment was to your liking. I'm sorry to hear that you had an unsatisfactory experience regarding the rules. The rules that you have mentioned are stipulations in the lease/roommate agreement, in which you are required to read and sign before moving in/renewal of the agreement. As this is a shared apartment, these rules are necessary to maintain the comfort and safety of all that dwell within it. You are allowed overnight guests once we are notified. We do not believe it's in our best interest to have random individuals in and out of the premises at late hours of the night, as this is a safety concern. The duration of their stay was also relevant, we believe we're very lenient but having an un-notified guest for upwards to a week is unfair to those that live with you.

This is a non-smoking apartment as it is fully carpeted and shared. This means no smoking in and/or directly in front of the apartment, however, we tried to accommodate you and mentioned that you could smoke in the backyard away from the entrance.

Lastly, regarding the cameras, there are only 3 cameras outside on the premises. All of them are located at the front of the building next to the 3 doors of the lower apartment, which is our private dwelling, this is to ensure our safety as well as those in the shared apartment. One of those cameras is angled so that the entrance of that apartment is also covered. This was done after a complaint made by a fellow roommate that someone had left the door wide open all night and that they had felt unsafe. As you have stated, this is a quiet and respectful neighborhood but we believe the cameras are preventative and they offer us protection and they are not heavily monitored.

The safety and comfort of all our tenants are 100% our concern. All that being said, we wish you nothing but the best and for you to enjoy your continued stay in New York.

All the best,
Maureen
