Hotel with Certificate of Authority.
Take in a bit of historic Brooklyn during your trip to NYC by staying in this renovated one bedroom vacation rent in Bedford-Stuyvesant! Dating from 1900, this apartment retains much of the original charm associated with brownstone buildings, such as wooden window sashes and two lovely decorative fireplaces. Found on the 2nd floor of a 4-story walk-up building, this apartment also offers the luxury of a private enclosed rooftop terrace, complete with wooden patio furniture that allows you to enjoy a meal outdoors!
The unique open layout of this one bedroom apartment also reminds you of old-world charm. The entrance leads to the main bedroom, furnished with a queen size platform bed with convenient storage drawers underneath. Facing to the north, glass French doors allow in plenty of sunlight and after a few steps up, you'll find yourself outside on the terrace. Behind the bedroom is the bathroom, with a claw foot bathtub and a large window to illuminate the space. On the other side of this room is the kitchen, which is open on either end to allow it to receive natural light. While still maintaining the traditional feel with exposed brick, an antique sink and oak cabinets, you have modern stainless steel appliances at your disposal, enabling you to cook a full meal on the days you don't feel like dining out. The south end of the apartment has the living room, which has a sitting area with a loveseat and chandelier lighting to highlight the high ceilings. Additionally there is a trundle sofa bed that can be used as two single sized beds or one queen-sized bed to accommodate larger groups. This room also features a wall-mounted flat screen television, and if you bring your computer or smartphone, wireless Internet access is available throughout to help you research all the possibilities in NYC! Please note that while the open layout of this apartment does allow light to spread nicely, it also can limit privacy when there are more guests.
Outside your door you will find Hancock Street, a residential street lined with similar brownstone and townhouse buildings, the very image that you see in countless movies and TV shows depicting Brooklyn. However, the Bedford-Stuyvesant area is not only residential, two blocks away on Tompkins Avenue you will find many small cafes, shops and restaurants; try Common Grounds, known for its excellent coffee. Also two blocks away is the Jefferson Market, convenient for grocery shopping. For dining out, everyone in the neighborhood would be sure to recommend Saraghina to you (2.5 blocks); with a wood burning oven and favoring local ingredients, their pizza is super flavorful, and the restaurant interior exudes a pleasant rustic atmosphere. There's also Therapy Wind Bar just half a block down from the pizzeria on Lewis Avenue, or if southern cuisine is more your style, check out Peaches, 2 blocks further, renowned for their fried chicken and homey brunches. If you feel like walking, venture south of Fulton Street and you will be in Crown Heights, with much more lovely architecture and the Brooklyn's Children Museum, the Botanic Garden, and the absolutely enormous Prospect Park. The B43 bus, 1.5 blocks away, will take you to northern Brooklyn, including the popular Williamsburg and Greenpoint neighborhoods that teem with boutiques, bars and in increasing array of fine dining.
Of course, you will probably want to get out of the neighborhood at some point, and fortunately you have a subway station not too far from this vacation rental accommodation. The C train is about 5 short blocks south, which can take you to Manhattan's Financial District in 8 stops. However, if you transfer to the express A train after one stop on the C, you can be there even faster in 6 stops! But after a day in the city, you won't be able to wait to come home to your calm abode in Brooklyn, New York!

Excellent stay in this vacation rental where we felt very comfortable and what can I say about the owner: adorable, so I highly recommend it. |

The apartment is located in a quiet, pleasant street, close to shops (large organic grocery store one block away) and to the subway. Its strong points are its old-fashioned charm, the space and the charming terrace. The bedding is of very high quality. It's a very pleasant place to stay. |

Hello, for information, the owner had made a mistake in the reservation and we had the apartment on the floor above and not the one initially booked. It provided adequate comfort but we noticed the lack of maintenance of the apartment (defective wooden shutters, hole in the floor, cleaning done but not thoroughly). The owner welcomed us well and was available and helpful when needed. We had a pleasant stay, the area was nice and close to transportation. |

The main point: its excellent location, only just 10 minutes away from Kingston-Throop subway, a quiet street with the charm of beautiful Brownstones; very easily accessible -four blocks- from JFK via Howard Beach (airtrain and subway) |

Pros: The apartment is beautiful, very clean and comfortable for 4 people. The closest subway station is just 4 blocks away and there are grocery shops nearby. |

We felt completely at ease in the apartment which is comfortable, warm and bright. For my first time in New York, I enjoyed being in a "normal" Brooklyn neighborhood, which is great by the way. Easy transportation in all directions. Thanks to Nathalie for all this. |

Very tastefully furnished apartment with charm and a really friendly, helpful landlady. The apartment was very clean and tidy, and is well-equipped - ideal for a family of 4. Also very good, direct subway connection available. It's a very quiet and safe neighborhood; the building, however, is not very soundproof due to its lightweight construction. Otherwise, we really enjoyed our stay and had a good time. For our next visit to New York we'll definitely book this apartment again. |

We spent a week in this very comfortable and charming apartment. The terrace is an undeniable asset to relax in the evening. The neighborhood is very quiet. The landlady is really thoughtful, responsive and discreet at once. We thank her for contributing to the success of this family trip with our 2 teenagers. The kitchen is extremely well equipped, we also enjoyed being able to close the shutters, which is not always the case in the United States. |

Our stay was delightful, we could had found a better place. It's so close to everything.... We had like 5 groceries stores around, the subway was like 2 books away, location is everything and you have it. |

We greatly appreciated the hostess' hospitality, kindness and helpfulness. The accommodation is spacious, light, tastefully decorated and central (a 5 min walk to the subway) whilst in a quiet location. It is equipped with all necessary utensils, nothing is missing (it's like being at home). |

Great, cozy apartment: very well decorated. Not far from metro stop but this latter is a bit of a far ride to Manhattan (20min+). The neighborhood is slowly gentrifying (good wine shop around the corner) but opportunities for groceries and restaurant are limited. It's certainly an interesting time for staying in this area of town, way far as posh as Brooklyn Heights, which makes it a more accessible destination. |

Apartment well refurbished that kept its antique character with several original items: brick wall, parquet, molding, inner shutters, tub and faucets: attractive apartment. Spacious and well laid out: perfect for a family with 2 children (1 double bed, 2 single beds). Comfortable bedding. |

It is an excellent place for a "different" stay in New York (and Brooklyn) that we will recommend to all our friends and other travelers. |

Greatly satisfied after 8 nights spent in this nice vacation rental, it is well appointed and very comfortable, a little off Manhattan hustle and bustle. Subway and shops nearby, very pleasant terrace. |
