This loft-style apartment is located just across the East River from Manhattan in the Dutch Kills area of Long Island City, Queens (2 short train stops from Midtown!). It is on the ground floor of a three-story townhouse with an elevator and buzzer-intercom security system. Originally built in 1899 as a firehouse, the building has now been converted to a two-family home. The newly renovated unit is 896-ft² (about 83 m²) and has a northwestern exposure with views of the lovely private garden and terrace.
This loft-style, wide open plan apartment has the feeling of a luxury hotel/corporate apartment, tastefully decorated and lined with hardwood floors. It features high ceilings (14 feet or 4.2 meters), central air conditioning, free wifi internet, Bose sound-system (CD player and radio), and an in-unit washer & dryer. The living area has a queen-size sofa bed (for use if extra guests are approved), armchairs, and a 42'' plasma with Direct TV. Furthermore, there is a desk and chair so you can work from home, and bookshelves containing plenty of reading material. The open kitchen is fully equipped with all the necessary appliances and utensils; it has beautiful wooden cabinetry that provides plentiful space for food storage. You can sit down to enjoy your home-cooked meals at the glass dining table with its four leather chairs.
The multiple windows in the living area look onto the terrace with its limestone floors, and garden, which includes a fire pit/BBQ. This is a peaceful space where you can kick back and relax on the comfortable outdoor furniture. The sleeping alcove, separated by a bookcase/room divider, contains a queen-size bed with top threadcount sheets and a memory foam mattress, nightstands and pewter dimmable reading light mounted over a grey velvet tufted headboard. A walk-in closet provides generous storage space (hanging rods, shelves, drawers). Next to it is the modern, all-white bathroom with a shower stall, WC, large wall-mounted mirror, and washbasin with a spacious vanity and several big drawers underneath. The bathroom can be accessed through pocket doors (that can be closed off) either from the sleeping alcove or the hallway at the entrance of the apartment, where you’ll find another walk-in closet. The apartment also features a security safe for storing your valuables or important documents.
Groceries can even be delivered to the apartment from Fresh Direct or Costco to make your life simpler. Additional paid services provided available upon request include laundry and dry cleaning, grocery shopping, housekeeping, and cooking.
Situated on 28th Street and 38th Avenue, this loft style apartment is in a peaceful area with easy street parking and nearby conveniences like a grocery store (2 blocks), deli, liquor store, and pharmacy. The Dutch Kills neighborhood in Queens has plenty to offer, including great art galleries and delicious restaurants—the owner’s personal favorite is Christos Steakhouse. Just around the corner from the apartment, there is a former 1880s pub that is now called Bar Tavern, which serves a great cocktail and fresh organic fare. Take advantage of the cultural venues in the vicinity and spend an afternoon at one of the museums, which include MoMA PS1, Fisher Landau Museum, Noguchi Museum, and Socrates Sculpture Park. But if you really want to indulge in nature, just hop on the N train and you can be in Central Park in just 3 stops and a short walk, complete with zoo and skating rink!
