This South of France two bedroom bed and breakfast is located in the heart of Marseille between the Marseille Saint Charles Trains Station and the notorious street called La Canebière. The apartment is on the third floor (considered 4th by Americans) of a 5-story elevator building, and there is access to a garage to park your car during your stay.
You will be sharing this B & B apartment with the owners, who will provide all the information and help you may need. The first bedroom for rent has a window looking southeast upon a private courtyard and garden, plus all the surrounding buildings that are rich with history. The second bedroom is furnished with a single bed, a desk and a closet. If you are a music lover there is even a small piano in here! In the bathroom there is a stall shower, pedestal sink and a shelving unit for additional storage.
As a guest in this two bedroom, you will have access to the spacious living room with sectional sofa, fireplace, flat screen television, and dining area. The separate kitchen has most of the appliances you would need in order to do some cooking. Try your skills at one of the local dishes like the iconic “bouillabaisse” or other fresh seafood available in this port city.
The bed and breakfast located is the most central part of Marseille, on the street Rue du Coq. Marseille is a large Mediterranean city and second biggest in France. It is famous for its Vieux Port (“Old Harbor”), only a short subway ride away, where regular fish markets take place when the boats come back after going ashore. You will certainly enjoy eating at one of the local restaurants facing the harbor and the sea. Everything is within reach as you will find cafés, restaurants and shops on the nearby street of La Canebière (3 blocks), an emblematic street that you can walk straight down to the Vieux Port. Notre Dame de la Garde Cathedral is a city landmark and a great place to visit. Be rewarded after walking up the hill to access it with a splendid view over the city and the sea. As a coastal city, there are obviously beaches in its vicinity, and we would definitely recommend taking a trip east via bus to the national park of the Calanques, where you can escape the city on the beautiful beaches.
The closest subway station is less than one block away, which will take you towards the Vieux Port and further south, or further north and out of town.
To get back home, the Marseille Provence International Airport can be reached in a short bus ride, where one connection will get you to most international destinations. Otherwise the Gare Saint Charles with the high speed TGV can give you access to Paris in a little over 3 hours. Nice, Cannes and the Alps are also about 3 hours away as well.
