Situated in the center of the Golden Triangle of Nîmes, Avignon and Arles, the ancient town of Beaucaire (from "Bel Caire" - Beautiful Stone in Provencal) provides the perfect base for exploring Provence and the Camargue. The town is situated on the riverside of the Rhone, one of the fourth largest rivers in France. The center of has beautiful pedestrian streets and used to be a famous regional market town. Of course, there are banks, restaurants, pharmacies, several supermarkets, and all the shops and services you would expect from a regional hub : bars, restaurants and boutiques of souvenirs.
The regional center and seat of the department, Nîmes, is 20 minutes to the west. Here you find large department stores, luxury shops, and wide pedestrian avenues through its large and lovely historical quarter. The Nîmes train station is served by the high-speed TGV (the "train grande vitesse," only 3 hours to Paris). The “Nîmes-Arles-Camargue Airport”, 30 minutes drive away, has daily domestic flights from/to London (Luton airport) and of course Paris, where most international flight connections are made through.
To the south the land flattens toward the Mediterranean and the natural reserve of La Camargue is worth the trip : flamingos, white horses, black bulls and … a few mosquitoes ! With a car, you can range far and wide on day trips alone: Saint-Rémy de Provence and the Alpilles are only 30 minutes away and Avignon only 40 minutes. The French Riviera is about less than 3 hours away.

We thought the apartment was lovely and well equipped. The only suggestion we would make is that the owners provide the phone number for the contact person as we were running really late and couldn't ring her. |

Service from agency was good. Flat was beautiful and commodious and well equipped. Slight problem with smell from chemical works in Tarascon on summer evenings. I have also mentioned this drawback to owners. I understand chemical company intends to do something about it. |
