This 2-bedroom duplex apartment is located on the 3rd and 4th floors (considered 2nd and 3rd floors by Europeans) of a 4-story walk-up townhouse in Harlem, Manhattan. There are two entrances to the apartment: on the 3rd floor a door leads to the master bedroom, and on the 4th floor a door leads to the hallway of the apartment. There are laundry facilities in the apartment.
On the 3rd floor of the apartment you will find the master bedroom of the apartment (bedroom 1). The room has hardwood floors and 3 windows with a northern exposure of green backyards. The room contains a queen-sized bed, TV with cable, a cabinet, 2 closets and a folding screen for privacy. An open winding staircase leads to the 4th floor and comes out in the other bedroom of the apartment (bedroom 2). Please note that in order to access the bathroom, kitchen and living room of the apartment, occupants of bedroom 2 will have to either go through bedroom 1 or exit the apartment and enter through the front door on the 4th floor. Bedroom 2 also has hardwood floors and three widows with a view of the gardens below, and features striking red walls and a skylight to let in additional light. The room is furnished as a study/entertainment room with a bookcase, double-size convertible futon and flat-screen TV with cable. There are also 2 closets in the room for additional storage space. A hallway leads to the other rooms on the 4th floor. The bathroom is just off the hallway, and contains a Jacuzzi bathtub with modern showerhead. The living room of the apartment can also be found on this floor. The room features hardwood floors, a decorative fireplace and two windows with a southern exposure of the typical New York tree-lined street below. The southern exposure coupled with another skylight and white elements throughout the room make this a delightful sun-filled space. There is a winding staircase in this room that leads to the inaccessible roof (locked). Furthermore, the room contains a large modern sofa which can be used as two single beds and a round dining table that seats four. The dining table stands conveniently close to the open kitchen, perfect for meals at home.
You can find the apartment on West 118th Street between 7th Avenue & Malcom X Boulevard. The townhouse is ideally situated in-between 3 parks in Harlem. 4 blocks north-east from the apartment you will find Marcus Garvey Park, 4 blocks west is Morningside Park, which borders Columbia University, and 8 blocks south is Central Park. Moreover, just two blocks west from the rental you will find the excellent Best Yet Market on 118th Street and Frederick Douglass Boulevard for convenient grocery shopping. Frederick Douglass Boulevard is also where you will come across great restaurants and bars. Moca Bar and Grill, which has a laid-back vibe, and Billie's Black, which offers some proper Harlem soul food, are just 3 blocks away.
To explore other neighborhoods in New York City, there are 2 subway stations nearby. You can catch the B and C trains at the 116 Street subway station about 2 blocks away to the south-west, or the 2 and 3 trains at the other 116 Street station about 3 blocks to the south-east.
Please note that due to the open staircase between the two bedrooms there is limited privacy in this apartment.

This apartment was just great, we enjoyed very much our stay in New York also thanks to this beautiful apartment. Full of light, practically located, in a nice neighborhood, and in a walking distance from Columbia University, close to Central Park, very close to the metro stations and to supermarkets and school. I would recommend it to anyone and we are very satisfied and thankful to the owners for renting us this place were we spent six happy months. |
