This two bedroom apartment in Crown Heights is bursting with character: here you've got beautiful stained wood door and window sashes, original moldings on the ceilings to accent the height, a decorative fireplace inlaid with brick and stained glass windows. Found on the first floor (considered the ground floor by Europeans) of a 3-story Brooklyn townhouse, enjoy your time in this classic apartment. Please note that due to its age, this building will best suit people who appreciate antique architecture. However, there is an intercom system at the building entrance for guests to announce themselves.
This apartment has a nice layout that affords you more privacy than average, as the bedrooms are situated on opposite sides of the living room. This also gives the apartment double exposure, with light streaming in from both the north (Bedroom 1) and the south (Bedroom 2 and Living Room). The rooms are simply furnished, but offer all you need to get a full night's rest, with two full size beds and a double size sofa bed in the living room. The bathroom in the apartment is equipped with a bathtub a sink and a toilet. You have cable and wireless Internet access, and air conditioning units can be available to help you through New York's infamous summers.
Found on Dean Street, nestled in a row of townhouses between two main thoroughfares of Crown Heights, this apartment is ideally situated. Around the corner on Nostrand Avenue, you have all types of small convenience shops and local restaurants and delis. A stroll 4 blocks north will take you to Fulton Street, with the A/C subway station. If you're headed to Manhattan, grab the A train, which will get you there in 4 stops! Of course, Brooklyn has plenty of attractions as well, with Prospect Park to the south of the apartment, one of the largest parks in New York City, envisioned by the same designers as Central Park. For a bit of culture, visit the Brooklyn Museum on the edge of the park, housing NYC's second largest art collection, or let your kids explore the Brooklyn Children's Museum (4 blocks away). Also a bit north of the area is the Barclays Center, home to the basketball team the Brooklyn Nets and many concerts throughout the year, accessible via bus or a longer walk. The Bedford-Stuyvesant area is also to the north, another lovely neighborhood full of historic brownstones and townhouses.
For guests traveling from the JFK airport, there is easy transit via the AirTrain shuttle to the LIRR train, which will take you to the neighborhood in 5 stops, and then the apartment is only a 3 block walk away (about 400m). You can also walk 4 blocks (approx. 550m) to the local subway (A or C trains).
