Make yourself at home in this fully furnished and warmly decorated one bedroom apartment in Bushwick, Brooklyn. This place has it all without seeming overcrowded - a convertible sofa bed, wall-mounted flat screen television and high table with bar stools create a feeling of space while offering you maximum functionality. The apartment is on the top floor - meaning no upstairs neighbors, but it is also just the 2nd floor (considered 1st floor by Europeans) of the walk-up townhouse, so you won't have to wear yourself out coming home after a long day in the Big Apple.
Decorated with neutral taupes and tans and a range of rich wood furniture pieces, this apartment has a harmonious feel to it. The living room offers not only a seating area for enjoying the cable TV, but also a desk, for when you need to get down to business. Wireless Internet access is also available for this purpose! The kitchen is open to the living area, but is tucked away in a nook with tiled flooring for easy clean-up. You have all the major appliances needed by all levels of cooks - from a microwave to a gas range, depending on your motivation! Off the main room is the full bathroom, with a pedestal sink and bathtub/shower, and the bedroom, with a four poster wooden double size bed. The bedroom also offers bureau with a mirror atop for storing clothes in addition to an armoire for hanging items. There is a small flatscreen television in this room as well.
Both the bedroom and the living room have windows with northwestern exposure, overlooking the street below and allowing natural light to filter in. Air conditioning units are available to cool both rooms, making NYC's hot summers much more enjoyable.
Found on Stanhope Street and Central Avenue, this one bedroom apartment falls into the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn. With Williamsburg and Bedford-Stuyvesant bordering to the west, this area offers a blend of the trendy hipster-vibe and the residential historic feel. A few blocks to the north and east, you'll find Tandem, a bar and restaurant that has tasty brunches as well as great dance parties in the evening (8 short blocks). Maria Hernandez Park is also nearby (0.4 miles / 650m), which has a seasonal Farmer's Market on the weekends during the spring-summer-fall and also offers athletic courts and a jogging path.
One of the main benefits of this apartment is that it is found at the intersection of several train lines - the closest station is Central Avenue / Myrtle Avenue station and serves the M line, traveling to lower Manhattan above ground, giving great views during your ride. Further away, but also convenient depending on your destination, is the Kosciuszko Street J train, 3 longer blocks to the southeast. Finally, there is also the DeKalb L train, which runs through Williamsburg, and will take you to 14th Street in Manhattan (station is about 5 blocks from the apartment). You've got plenty of options outside the door of this cozy one bedroom, great for seeing the rest of New York.

We had a great experience at this apartment. The location was really convenient and the landlord was very prompt and helpful with any queries. |

Both the landlord and the actual apartment were a pleasure. He was pleasant to deal with and the unit itself was well equipped and clean. My only issue was the location. I was awakened my first morning by a terrible domestic dispute going on outside the property. Cars blaring loud music at all hours. Sirens seemed to wail constantly. Not very many cafes or restaurants nearby. I know Bushwick is considered an "up and coming" neighbourhood. But for my taste, it was more "coming" than actually "up". Another renter may not have a problem with the neighbourhood, but it wasn't what I was hoping for during my stay in NYC. |

Thanks for the review, Sonja! I'm sorry to hear you didn't enjoy the neighborhood. Parts of New York can feel noisy if you come from out of town. I'm glad to hear that you liked the apartment itself nevertheless. |

On the time of your stay they were fixing the M train lines on the weekend but the good thing is that you can also take the L train nearby. |
