Fantastic appartment with a great view and nicely located in the UWS. Landlord Vinessa is very helpful and kind. The apartment has plenty of windows and so plenty of light during the day, with a beautiful view of NY. The double windows help keep the noise minimum even though you are in a corner apartment. The apartment has everything you need in terms of amenities and everything you need around.
Fantastic apartment and would have stayed longer if I could!

Thank You Arthur for your review of your stay at 86th street. The year 2020 was certainly challenging, and I am so happy you felt comfortable and at home in New York, far away from your home in France, during such a scary time. I too wish you could've stayed longer... it would be my pleasure to see you again. Thank you to NY Habitat for finding me such a wonderful tenant!

Apartment Experience: The apartment experience overall was positive. The greatest positive was Vinessa and her husband. Vinessa is a lovely person and was very helpful and friendly throughout our stay, as was her husband. She is a true New Yorker and guided us to great New York experiences. It was great to chat with her and she was flexible and understanding of our particular circumstances. She was trustworthy in our dealings with payments and overall a great owner.

Location: The apartment is located in a beautiful area on the upper west side, right in between Central Park and Riverside Park, which are both 2 blocks away which was nice with a toddler. It?s one block away from the 1 train and 2 blocks from several other trains (although that station was closed during our stay) which was very convenient. There is a pharmacy across the street and a Trader Joe?s within walking distance which was very nice to have. It?s a lovely area. I never felt unsafe at any time of day in the area and there is a lovely neighborhood feeling on Sunday afternoons when everyone is out to brunch or walking their dogs.

Cleanliness: The apartment was clean overall and was cleaned a few times by a professional cleaner. The floors could use a good scrubbing and the walls could use a fresh coat of paint, but I was satisfied with the cleanliness of the apartment and there was nothing off putting.

Condition, Comfort, Amenities: I was happy with the amenities. The dishwasher was a nice bonus. The bathroom was nice with a shower and bath. There is hardly any storage space and no counter space in the bathroom, although that is basically to be expected in the city. There were several closets so the storage was better than expected in the city. The basement washers and dryers were acceptable. Vinessa just put in a new air cooler which was helpful in the summer heat. The loft style bedroom has a low ceiling which was not ideal for a tall man (my husband could not stand upright in the bedroom) but the bed and closets were acceptable. The heat rises in the summer, which made the bedroom pretty hot at night and was unpleasant for a good portion of the summer. I would have liked one of the coolers to be on the upper level.

Building: The building is decent, although the apartment is clearly nicer than the halls, lobby, etc. The halls were a bit grubby, but it wasn?t terrible. The doormen were mostly friendly. Using your key to use the elevator got tedious after a while, although it?s obviously more secure. Our next door neighbors were sometimes loud and were heavy smokers which made the hallway, and sometimes our apartment, smell bad. Still, everyone in the building seemed friendly and I had no bad interactions with anyone.

Quiet/Loud: The apartment is fitted with noise reduction windows and is about as quiet as you can get in Manhattan. As previously stated, our neighbors were sometimes loud but it was never too much of an issue.

The experience was good overall and I enjoyed my stay in the apartment. I would definitely rent from Vinessa again and I appreciated her and Roman.

Thank so much for renting 86th street Mary Jane and Mitchell!
I am so happy you enjoyed the apartment during your stay. The area is amazing as you note, very convenient and safe.

In terms of the cleanliness of the apartment,I am glad you mentioned how clean it was. You had refused the bi-weekly cleaning which I strongly recommended to keep it sparkling the way it normally does. Once per month was not enough, but I was happy to accommodate your wishes.
The bedroom ceiling is 6 ft, and I remember your husband was 6'4' ! Yes, that is a bit low for such a tall man. It should be mentioned that we did speak to you about the loft height before you signed contracts so that there were no surprises. I always like to be honest and upfront. The 2 closets upstairs are quite spacious for New York, I am glad they worked for you.
We have no way of putting an A/C on the loft level per your suggestion, when both powerful A/C units are running it cools they entire space, but perhaps you only used only the new one? The fan upstairs is also for help with circulation.
As you mentioned in your comments, this is a relatively quiet apartment as New York goes due to the " city windows" That is a true benefit in NYC. The view, which is wonderful, is another asset I hope you enjoyed.
Its true that in New York, smoke or other smells can linger in a hallway, I am sorry if it bothered you,but alas, my hands are tied with that one. I have never smelled it in the apartment though, nor has anyone ever said that before, so your experience was unusual. You were lovely people and we were so happy to have you, I am glad everything worked out and your time in New York City was a great memory. I do hope to see you both again!!

I had a great stay in this apartment! It's located in a really nice residential area with two supermarkets nearby, plus the 1 train is only a block away- very convenient. You can find just about anything you need in this neighborhood. The apartment itself is beautiful and spacious with high ceilings and windows- and I absolutely loved the loft bedroom area! I don't have any complaints about my stay here.

Vinessa was very kind and friendly as a host too. On two rare occasions where something wasn't working right in the apartment, I would let Vinessa know and she would have the problem fixed within a day. I highly recommend this apartment for anyone looking to stay in the city!
