New York Room For Rent - 6 Bedroom apartment for a roommate in Flatbush, Brooklyn (NY-15546)

I spent a month and 3 weeks in the building and I enjoyed my stay pretty much. The room is nice and cozy with a wide wardrobe and enough space for everything. The only problem is the WiFi, which is pretty shaky, the signal going back anf forth many times, but the owners are trying to fix the problem. Other issues were the fact that both bathrooms were not entirely clean, and the kitchen has only a small table, not that comfortable if you want to sit and eat your meal. But apart from this, everything else was perfectly ok; whenever I had a problem, a question or a need, the owners were extremely kind and willing to solve everything. Also the other room mates were very nice and I enjoyed good conversations in the evening with all of them. with
The building is close to many shops where you'll find basically everything at reasonable prices, the laudry is very near as well. The subway is more or less 7 minutes (2 or 5 train) or 13 minutes (Q train) and Manhattan (Wall Street and Greenwich Village) is something like 30 minutes away. All the neighbourhood is quiet and safe at every hour of the day, and you're 2 miles away from Prospect Park - especially in the summer, an amazing place.
I definetely recommend the room if you are planning to visit New York.

Awesome housekeeper, nice people, anything you might need is nearby.

What needs to be improved:

1. They need to clean the bedroom, at
least twice a month.

2. They need to clean the bathroom, especially
the tub-shower, it is very dirty.

3. They need to take care of the
front of the house, there is permanent trash in the yard.

4. They need
to put a right sized door in the bedroom, like this no light will enter
into the bedroom from the hallway, this didn't let me sleep.

5. They
need to put a mattress that is at least minimally comfortable.

6. They
need to have a bed that has a normal structure and never breaks.

The tenants were discreet and there wasn't much interaction between the other tenants living here.

This owner was very welcoming. When I came to see the apartment, she picked a flower from the tree in the courtyard to put it in my room!
Bedding is not bad, provided linens and towels were rather clean and there was basic furniture (dresser, desk...) and more (dishes...) to live comfortably.
However, if you are looking for an apartment share (where share means "friendly and welcoming community"), this may not be a place for you because you won't see the other roommates very often. This is more like a house with individual rooms but without a shared common space: there was only room for one person at a time in the kitchen (and most of the roommates were eating in their rooms), and the living room on the ground floor was unavailable (locked). The cleanliness of the inside of the closets may need to be improved. They were dusty, some walls had holes in them and some joker wrote insults on the panels in several rooms.
Finally, the bathroom ventilation is broken for several months. Bare electric wires are coming out the walls (sparking at each contact - don't touch them or you could get electrocuted!). The bathroom is always humid and smells humidity. Ceiling paint is really starting to chip off.
Overall, this is more a place for people who want to be alone and except for the bathroom, the rooms are generally in good condition and well maintained. I would like to stress one more time the friendliness and flexibility of the owner, who was truly lovely!

Very big and comfortable bedroom in a very quiet area of Brooklyn with many and various stores that are open very late and for most of them 24/7. The roommate hosts are incredibly kind. Buses Q - 2 and 5 are just a few blocks away and Beverley Road station is 35 minutes from Times Square with the express train.

Quality apartment share and the hosts are remodeling the bedrooms one after the other - very cozy I spent 2 pleasant months. I'll insist on the fact that was sharing with roommates who respected the apartment and the common areas such as the kitchen. When everyone plays ball, it can only be positive.

I'll rate value for money 4.5 stars out of 5 just not to give 5.
