Description
2 Bedroom Vacation Rental in Saint Michel, Latin Quarter - Panthéon (PA-2844)
2 Bedrooms, 1 Bathroom, 1 Half Bathroom - Sleeps 3

Registration number : 7510511399824

This two bedroom vacation rental is located in Paris' 5th Arrondissement, near the bustling intersection of the Boulevard Saint-Germain and the Rue des Carmes. It is next to the Place Maubert, known for its traditional-air food market, open three mornings a week. Situated in the oldest part of Paris, the Latin Quarter, just steps away from the historic Ile de la Cité (home to the Notre Dame Cathedral) and the Mount Sainte-Geneviève (home of the Panthéon), it's tough to find a better location than this!

This 82m2 (820 sq ft.) two bedroom accommodation with 2.60m (8ft) high ceilings is on the 5th floor (6th American floor) of a 19th century Haussmannian building. Iconic buildings like this are what give Paris its unique character. The building has been renovated to add modern conveniences, such as an elevator, a digicode security system and an intercom system at the door. Both bedrooms, the living room and the dining room have French doors that open onto a narrow balcony that wraps around the building, overlooking both the Boulevard Saint-Germain and the Place Maubert. The rooms have hardwood herringbone floors, typical French decorative moldings on the ceilings and walls and is furnished with mostly modern furniture.

  • The living room fetaures two sitting areas and a decorative fireplace. The room is equipped with a stereo sound system. There are both a window and two French doors, which lead to the balcony.
  • The dining room (Living Room 2 in photos) is connected to the living room by a door and has two tables, a formal dining table and a smaller, more casual table in front of the window.
  • The master bedroom is accessible either via the double doors connecting it to the dining room, or from the hallway. It has a queen bed and a flat screen TV. The balcony can be accessed from this room as well.
  • The second bedroom is furnished as an office, with a desk as well as a single size bed. Two French doors allow in plenty of light and again allow you to access the balcony!
  • The kitchen is compact, but comes with everything you'll need to cook and eat at home - there is an electric stove, an oven, a microwave, a refrigerator with freezer, a dishwasher, a washing machine with dryer, an electric kettle, a toaster and a coffee maker.
  • The bathroom has a bathtub with a hand-held shower and a washbasin. In traditional European style, the toilet room is separate.

The Saint Michel neighborhood is very central, and has kept much of its Parisian charm. Notre Dame Cathedral is only 450m away (about .3mi), as is one of the most scenic parts of the Seine river. There are many supermarkets, small shops and restaurants within a few blocks of the apartment. The Luxembourg Garden, one of the most famous parks in Paris, is also within walking distance (about 1km/.6mi).

The metro station Maubert-Mutualité (line 10) is in front of the building and the Saint-Michel metro station (line RER B, C) is only 550 m (.3mi) away. From there, connection to both banks of the Seine and eastern and western Paris is very convenient. The neighborhood is easily accessible from the two main airports, Charles de Gaulle and Orly, via the RER B line which goes right to the Saint-Michel - Notre-Dame station.

Please note that because of the apartment's location at a busy intersection, there may be a fair amount of noise from the street. The windows are double-glazed for sound and thermal insulation, though in the summer if they are opened for ventilation, the apartment may be somewhat noisy.

although the apartment owner seemed very pleasant in the 10 minutes that we spent with her before and after our stay the apartment was very disappointing. it was old and not clean at all and cluttered. the second bedroom had a very small, child's bed which was very disappointing. If we left the windows open for ventilation the street noise was awful, if we closed it the apartment was stuffy.

Thank you Susan for staying at my apartment, I am sorry you did not like it. This is actually my primary residence, which explains why it is not empty. I think that the website pictures show that it is a quite welcoming furnished apartment in which you can feel at home. If you think it was cluttered, I am sorry, but this is the reason why it is not a hotel.

Concerning the noise, there are some double-glazed windows; I do live in this apartment and it does not bother me. It can get stuffy if you close the windows when it is hot outside, but this is the urban life.

The small bed is a single one (90x200 cm), it is a standard bed in France but maybe not for American people. I did all the cleaning thoroughly (closets included) with the concierge because the cleaning lady was still in vacation. Therefore, it was unusual and in the future, the cleaning lady will ensure its high cleanliness to our next gests.

It is a shame that you did not like the apartment. Your friend Peggy liked its ideal location and was charmed by the place. She is willing to come back!

Couldn't possibly been happier there. It is all excellent. I only put 4 stars for quiet, because of course there are city sounds at the corner of the metro and the local outdoor market!, what else what you want?

We have all vowed to come back.

We loved the location and the size and view. Three place felt very much like a "home" and not a rental property. It could not get any more convenient to the Metro, and the shops in the neighborhood had everything we could have wanted.

There is a market across the street there data a week, which made it easy to pick up food for snacks and supper.

The apartment is exactly the same as the pictures provided and everything was as expected. The owner was there on time to greet us, very charming, gentile and helpful. It was our second stay there, and she had remembered our first visit a few years earlier.

Whilst the apartment is situated in a busy area, the windows have double glazing so traffic noise is muted and the location and views from the apartment make up for any noise coming from within the building (the building is in excellent condition, and beautiful but old - noise from the upstairs apartment is simply unavoidable).

A metro station is outside the front door, and there is a market every second day in the square in front of the building as well. In addition, there are two bar/cafes, a bakery, a wine shop, a cheese shop and a fruit stall all in the square beneath the apartment.

There are also three supermarkets (small but completely adequate as is the case in Paris) around the corner. It is 5 minutes walk to the Seine and Notre Dame, and the Pantheon (a couple of minutes walk away) can be seen from the balcony. The building also has a lift which is helpful if anyone cannot walk the 5 flights of stairs.

This is a premium apartment and is full of the owner's personality - it contains some beautiful traditional french furniture and has original artworks throughout, is full of natural light and has views over many beautiful Parisian rooftops.

The apartment has enough comfortable seating in the lounge room for 6 people, and both beds are also very comfortable. There is a fold out sofa bed in the lounge room - only one person slept on it and the mattress was quite normal by Parisian standards (not very thick). Visitors to this apartment should also be aware that there is a hand held shower over the bathtub - some may find it awkward and not what they are used to. However it should be stressed that these are definately not complaints, only observations.

Overall we felt this was an exceptional place to stay when in Paris and were very happy that we were able to stay there again. The owner is an utterly charming Frenchwoman and a delight to talk to.

Thank you for the opportunity to write this review, and for the stay in this apartment. Sue C, Australia.

The apartment is good, with some problems related with the old buildings existing in this area (5eme Arrondissement) in Paris, like: restroom separated from bathroom, only one elevator in the building (it broke twice) etc.

The localization of the apartment is excellent, the owner was very helpful, etc. We liked the apartment and we can recommend it to other people.

We were very pleased with the apartment - it definitely met our expectations (and hopes). The photographs on the website gave an accurate impression - airy, well-appointed, clean and very 'Parisian'. Everything worked. The location was even better than we envisaged. The owner was pleasant, courteous and helpful.

We very much enjoyed our week in Paris, with this lovely apartment being a key part. Would definitely recommend it to others.

We liked the apartment very much. The location was amazing. It was clean, good space and light, nice views. It looked just like it did in the photos. The only complaints were that the pillows were very, very soft and the apartment could have used a few more blankets. Otherwise it was great.

The apartment was exactly as described and lovely. We truly enjoyed leasing an apartment as opposed to staying in a hotel. We were able to enjoy time with friends and business associates in "our own space" as opposed to a restaurant or hotel lobby.
