In Paris, three islands rise out of la Seine—l’Île de la Cité, l’Île aux Cygnes, and l’Île Saint-Louis. L’Île Saint-Louis is home to narrow streets, cobblestones, and buildings the color of sand. It sits in the 4th Arrondissement. Here, in the middle of the French capital, on the rez-de-chaussée (the ground floor) of one of the sand-colored buildings, a stunning, furnished studio apartment houses a getaway. It sits at the corner of Rue Saint-Louis en l’Île and Rue Poulletier and houses a washing machine as well.
In addition to the location, contemporary furnishings and an open layout make this furnished rental unique. There is a towering window that allows the sun to look in on the main room, an airy space with tall ceilings. There is lighted recessed shelving and a windowsill. Rich, dark flooring grounds the atmosphere. In the main room, you will find a sofa and a TV and a dining table. When it is time to sleep, head up the stairs to the mezzanine level and find a double bed. When it is time to cook, there is an open kitchen. Here you can get yourself into all sorts of adventures with an oven, a microwave, a toaster, a coffeemaker, a fridge, and a freezer. At the end of all the adventures, you can dust yourself off in the shower or switch the direction of the water and relax with a soak in the tub.
Short of camping out on le Champ de Mars, you would be hard-pressed to find a location closer to some of the biggest landmarks in Paris than l’Île Saint-Louis. Here you are centrally located between la Sainte-Chapelle, le Panthéon, and la Place de la Bastille. You can pop over to visit Notre-Dame de Paris without ever touching the mainland. La Sorbonne Université sits less than 2 kilometers (around a mile and a quarter) south of the island. So does le Jardin des Plantes and le Jardin du Luxembourg. On the island itself, you can find several shops and restaurants.
If you need the subway, you can climb on the 7 line at either the Pont Marie metro station or the Sully-Morland station. Both are located around 400 meters (around 0.25 miles) from the apartment rental, so the choice may rest on which bridge you prefer—Pont Marie or Pont Sully. You can catch the 10 line at Cardinal Lemoine or the 4 line or the B or C lines at Saint-Michel Notre-Dame.
