With a private backyard garden as big as the apartment, this furnished studio is a great option for those who want to combine their love of the Upper East Side with their love of the outdoors! This apartment is situated on 81st Street & 1st Avenue, on the ground floor of a 5-story walk-up building. There is a buzzer/intercom system for guest entry.
The apartment layout is very open, with the tiled kitchen transitioning to the hardwood floor living area. The bathroom is near the entrance. The kitchen is equipped for cooking full meals, with a gas stove, fridge/freezer, microwave and even a dishwasher to ease the clean-up! There is a small table that provides prep space and room for dining. There is a modern feel to the studio's living area, with a convertible futon sofabed and glass coffee table, as well a platform size double bed and flat screen TV. In addition to the dresser, a closet provides storage space.
A door gives access to the large enclosed garden area, lined with cement with planters running along the sides.
The surrounding New York neighborhood has a homey feel, typical of the Upper East Side, with tree-lined streets that are bisected by more commercial avenues. For example, around the corner from the apartment on 1st Avenue you have a supermarket, a CVS pharmacy, several casual eateries and a cafe! you won't have to go far for your daily needs. If you continue further east, you will reach the East River (about 3 blocks/600m). From the riverfront, you can admire the Brooklyn and Queens skyline, or relax in the Carl Schurz Park, home to Gracie Mansion (the official residence of the Mayor of NYC).
Heading west, you will run into NYC's famous "Museum Mile" on 5th Avenue, as well as the iconic Central Park! Your visitors will delight at the proximity to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, just .7mi/1.1km from the apartment (a nearby bus also will take you if you don't enjoy walking).
Buses (including express buses) also run north up 1st Avenue and south down 2nd Avenue to reach upper and lower Manhattan. The nearest subway stop is at 77 Street / Lexington Avenue, which gives access to the local 6 train (1/2mi or 850m).

Both New York Habitat and the owner of the apartment were so helpful. Our son needed a place to live in the city for 90 days while he completed an internship. I was totally comfortable sending Konner there and knew he would be in great hands! Sondra at the dry cleaners in the building was the best!! When we visited Konner there were great restaurants and a lot of fun things to do. Very convenient to everything. Very convenient to the subway. I highly recommend renting here!! |
