Make this light-filled room for rent in a pleasant apartment share yours! Situated near the intersection of Broadway and West 142nd Street in uptown Manhattan, this five bedroom apartment is in the heart of Hamilton Heights, a historic section of New York City; don't miss being just two subway stops from Columbia University and a little over a block away from the lovely Hudson River.
The apartment is situated on the 2nd floor of a classic low-rise (6 story) building, with a convenient elevator as well as a buzzer-intercom system to notify you when guests arrive.
The available room for rent (Bedroom #3) is in the middle of the apartment share, with two windows that face southwest to allow in sunlight and fresh air. The light compliments the ivory walls and blond wood floors, and sets off the white dresser and window and door sashes. Two closets provide you with shelves for storage, as well as a place to hang your clothes. While simply furnished, you have all the basics and more - a double size bed, a bedside table, a dresser with a flat screen television and a decorative shelving unit. This is a blank slate for you to impart your personal touches on. If you need to kick back and relax after a long day, there is cable and wireless Internet access to distract you.
Outside of the room, there is the shared bathroom and the shared kitchen, used by the guests in the other bedrooms as well. The kitchen has plenty of rich oak-colored cabinets and stainless steel appliances. There is plenty of counter space for prepping food, and a microwave, coffee maker and toaster oven to make preparing meals a little simpler. Both the kitchen and the shared bathroom benefit from windows to keep light and air circulation flowing in the apartment.
The surrounding Hamilton Heights neighborhood has a lot to offer its residents - while the east/west streets are primarily residential and are mainly lined with historic townhouses and brownstones, the north/south avenues are bustling and have many restaurants and shops. For example, try a taste of brick oven pizza at Covo Trattoria, just next to the Hudson River on 12th Avenue, a bit of a walk at 8 blocks, but well worth the exercise. Of course, there are plenty of more local restaurants just around the corner on Broadway. You also have a gym on Broadway, less than 4 blocks north, or if the weather is nice, you can jog or bike along the waterfront on the Hudson River Greenway, with pleasant views onto the New Jersey skyline. There is even the Riverbank State Park with an outdoor pool just two blocks west.
Other amenities of the area include City College, not even one subway stop away, and Columbia University and Barnard College both just two subway stops south. The nearest subway is at 145th Street and Broadway, 3 blocks away. This station serves the 1 train, which runs all the way down the Upper West Side through Chelsea to downtown Manhattan. This roommate share situation is a great way to discover New York!
