Living in this bedroom for rent puts you in one of the most convenient and popular neighborhoods of Brooklyn - Fort Greene. Found in central Brooklyn at the intersection of Brooklyn Heights, Boerum Hill, Clinton Hill and Prospect Heights, this neighborhood benefits from access to a plethora of subway lines and large shopping hubs in addition to the residential feel that comes from the townhouse-lined streets. The four bedroom duplex apartment share itself is situated on the 1st floor (considered the ground floor by Europeans) and basement of a 3-story walk-up brick townhouse, complete with its own conveniences: a intercom/buzzer system with video security for guests entry and a communal washing machine and dryer in the basement (coin-operated).
Bedroom 1 allows for function and style with both a single and a double murphy bed, a chaise lounge, and a TV.
Bedroom 2 features an earthy green color on the walls with honey-colored wood floors that line the space. A ceiling fan circulates the air and the room is furnished with a double sized bed.
Bedroom 3 is located in the basement and features a queen-sized bed, small television with cable, storage space and allows access to the basement bathroom (bathroom 2 on the floor plan).
The rest of the four bedroom apartment's common spaces are shared with the roommates, and benefit from a very functional layout. There is a full bathroom and the kitchen on the other side. There are also other convenient appliances, including a microwave and the crucial coffee-maker! There is not one, but two living areas, one more geared towards dining (outside the kitchen) and the other more for relaxing (near the entrance). A closed door will take you to the basement where you can use the washer and dryer when needed.
Just step outside your door and explore all the options that Fort Greene has to offer. The park that it is named for is three blocks to the north - a hilly, grassy area with lots of paths that are great for jogging and where a seasonal farmer's market is held on the weekends. You also have a smaller local park just around the corner from this 2 bedroom apartment share (South Oxford Park), with tennis courts and benches. The Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) is about 5 blocks away from your room's location (Cumberland Street and Atlantic Avenue), and brings many young people and cultural events to the area. Additionally, you have the Pratt Institute of Design and St Joseph's College just one subway stop away. A stroll four blocks down Atlantic Avenue will take you to the Atlantic Terminal Mall, with a Target, Old Navy and Best Buy for your shopping needs. If you want to check out independent vendors, try the Brooklyn Flea, about 6 blocks away on Lafayette Avenue, an awesome conglomeration of local crafts and vintage goods. Foodies won't have any reason to leave the area either -- No. 7, acclaimed for its renowned New American cuisine, is just two blocks away. For a more casual experience, try some eloté (grilled corn) at the Habana Outpost, a unique eco-friendly venue with plenty of outdoor seating, serving Mexican and Cuban fare. Finally, you will be able to benefit from the newly constructed (2102) Barclays Center, a sports arena that will serve as home to the Brooklyn Nets and as a concert venue.
Of course, you occasionally will have to get out of the area to see the rest of New York City, and with all the subway options nearby, commuting won't be a problem! The nearest subway is the C train at Lafayette Avenue and Fulton Street, a little over 2 blocks from your apartment, which can take you to downtown Manhattan in just 4 stops. You also have a transit hub with the 2/3/4/5, B/D and N/Q/R subway station at the Atlantic Terminal (Atlantic Avenue / Pacific Street). Finally, if you need to go north/south in Brooklyn or to reach Queens, you can catch the G train at Lafayette Avenue and Fulton Street, which runs to trendy Williamsburg and Greenpoint, as well as Park Slope.

Apartment is in a great location, very easy to get to Manhattan at any time. The surrounding neighborhood is also very nice and home-y. Owner is very nice and welcoming, and also keeps it clean. I enjoyed my stay very much. |
