Become part of NYC’s most populous borough in this 6 bedroom/3 bathroom shared house in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. These rentals are on 44th Street and 4th Avenue is in western Brooklyn, a little over two blocks from the water of Gowanus Bay. The private house consists of three floors, with four bedrooms of the six available for rent. There are two bedrooms on each floor and one bathroom on each floor to be shared by both bedrooms. You will also share access to the fully equipped kitchen.
On the first floor are the two larger bedrooms and a bathroom. Bedrooms #1 and #2 have wood flooring and lovely marble decorative fireplaces that serve as a headboard to the queen sized beds. Both rooms have desks for when you need to get some work done. There is also a TV for relaxing after all your work is done!
The third floor has the other two bedrooms, #5 and #6. These rooms have sloped ceilings, and both have desks and televisions. Bedroom #5 is furnished with a single sized bed, while Bedroom #6 has a double sized bed.
The middle floor contains the kitchen for the house, shared by all the residents. This kitchen is equipped with the essentials: a refrigerator, an oven, a gas stove, a coffeemaker and a toaster. There are light hardwood cabinets lining the white walls to store appliances and kitchen items, and a dining area that seats up to four to enjoy your morning breakfast. Double windows available to illuminate this cooking space.
Living in this part of Sunset Park has many benefits: the subway is just two and a half blocks away, and with just 1 transfer, you can be in Manhattan in just 3 stops total! You also have the park itself that the neighborhood is named after – the highest natural point in Brooklyn, it is well known for the great views over the bay of the NYC skyline and offering a public pool in the summer. There are also good eating options around these rooms for rent – down the block from the triplex house is a popular restaurant called Acapulco, where you can get a variety of delicious Mexican food! Around the corner on 4th Avenue, you’ll find plenty of conveniences, including a pizzeria, a bakery, a coffee shop, and more. There is also a supermarket about two blocks away.
The nearby R train is also great for running through popular neighborhoods like Park Slope and Fort Greene, which have a lot of shopping and fine dining options if the mood strikes you! If you stay on the train, you will find yourself in downtown Manhattan, New York's Financial District.

I enjoyed very much staying there The landlord was very friendly and helpful. A laundromat is in the same street, only a few yards to walk. This is very convenient. Also the subway station is very close. Everything was positive, I enjoyed very much staying there. |

Overall was a great stay! The location was really good with having some restaurants, grocery, laundry, and train access all within a block. The cleanliness of the apartment was pretty good. The building itself was decent. The room I stayed in was on the entry level, and was a very decent size. However, the kitchen is on the 2nd floor. I am one that likes to cook. and I was a little disappointed with the kitchen situation. The gas stove/range is outdated: almost every time I wanted to cook, I would have to relight the pilot lights, and the one for the stove was not the easiest to get to. They have it set up for 6 individuals sharing one kitchen, with having mini-fridges in the rooms for individual use. The mini definitely helped alleviate some difficulties with cold food storage since the kitchen fridge was almost always full with others. Just wish I had more freezer space. I am graduate student, and stayed for 4 months. Overall, was decent and I would definitely recommend this place for short term stays. |

Thank you Damien for your feedback. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your roommate share, the apartment location, the size of your room, the building. We have conveyed your comments -including those about the kitchen and the stove- to the owner of this shared apartment. Your review is certainly useful, thank you again. |

The landlord was very kind but not intrusive. He was helpful when I needed him, even just for advice. The building is old, made of wood, perishable. The room was good, with new hard-floor and TV, which conveys modernity. I had all I needed. It was exactly as in the photo. There is one bathroom in each floor, so you have to share it with another person. The kitchen had everything I needed, though it was shared by all 5 tenants, didn't appear in great condition and sometimes mice managed to sneak in. But it was quiet, well heated, with Wi-Fi and excellent roommates. The location was also great, close to the train stop, in a quiet neighborhood with a lot of restaurants, shops of any kind, laundry-mats, and a park. Overall I had a great feeling (obviously, if you are trying to save money you won't find a luxurious place). I would stay here again. |

Excellent apartment in Sunset Park. I stayed here 3 months and I'm happy I chose this apartment. The roommates were kind and they didn't make noise. The owner and his family are great people and are always available to help. The location is perfect. Just around the corner from the subway station, you can reach Lower Manhattan in 30 minutes, and a few more minutes to go to Midtown. Sunset Park is a quiet area with many restaurants. A cleaning service would be very useful (even if we have to pay for it), because otherwise, roommates have to do the cleaning of the apartment. |

Excellent value. Great location within walking distance to many restaurants and shops. Close to park. Landlord helpful and pleasant which is an added bonus. Place was clean and had all the necessary amenities. Highly recommended. |

Cool neighborhood - fairly easy trek to the city with lots of good Mexican and Chinese food within a 5-minute walking distance. Cool housemates, and the land lord is super chill. Space is a little tight, but for the money it's a pretty sweet deal. |

The house is conveniently located near the subway, a laundromat, a grocery store, a pharmacy, & restaurants. The neighborhood is very safe, so is the house/room. The room was clean & as pictured, with good A/C and heat. The landlord was very nice & available but not intrusive at all. The housemates were also nice. I really enjoyed my stay here! |

I stayed in this house for 4 months during my study abroad. Sunset Park is a great and safe neighbourhood to live in. The house is clean and quiet. The landlord is the best you can wish for, if you need anything just tell him. |

It's very convenient to be able to come and go easily. Everyone in the apartment keeps to themselves, but one downside is that the only common area is a small kitchen. The landlord however is very nice. |
Answer by: Roommate Host Jul 23 2015 |
Thank you Ariana, you were a polite, responsible guest. It's true that the only common area is the kitchen, which should be clear from the photos. It would be a pleasure to have you back if you ever reached out to us and space was available. Thanks! |

I loved spending a month in this apartment; the neighborhood is nice and lively. Access to Manhattan is easy (although you will need 30 to 45 minutes to get to the center) thanks to the subway nearby. |
Answer by: Roommate Host Oct 31 2014 |
Dear Elise, thank you for your comments. It was a real pleasure to have you as a guest! We are trying our best to make some renovations to the apartment and replace worn amenities little by little. I clean the apartment once a week and throw out the garbage every day. Unfortunately, sometimes roommates don't clean everyday but that's out of my control. I wish you all the best and hope to see you again! |

The kitchen is quite old and would need revamping. |
Answer by: Roommate Host Oct 31 2014 |
Thank you for your comments. I hope you enjoyed your stay. I agree that the kitchen needs some revamping and that is the reason why I will start the renovation next month. The apartment is indeed at 45min from Manhattan but also near the subway and in a very nice and lively neighborhood. I don't think the highway is really loud, I actually never had a complaint before. However, I apologize for the barking dog and from now on I will make sure to leave him inside the house when I'm not there. I hope to see you again! |

Good location, the landlord was excellent. A/C was a bit faulty and a small bug issue in the building. Overall, a good deal and again, the landlord was easy to work with and very helpful/welcoming. |
Answer by: Roommate Host Oct 31 2014 |
Dear Mohamed and Sofia, thank you for your comments, I was very happy to meet both of you. We will replace the AC and put new ones in every bedroom next spring. I hope you were not too hot during your stay! The building has been fumigated and the issue in the building has been solved. I hope to see you soon again in New York! |

The roommates were friendly and quiet. The owner was very kind and helpful. The kitchen is in need of renovation, which the owner will be taking care of in the coming weeks. The rooms are clean and there aren't any bugs like cockroaches that aren't so rare in New York. |

The owners are friendly and attentive to your needs, they also keep to themselves and are nonintrusive. For the most part, the building is kept clean, however it is very old and a bit dilapidated. |

Further to this review, we contacted the roommate host who apologized and stated that in the future everyone will be made aware that the kitchen should be clean and maintained better. |
