This alcove studio apartment is located on the 5th and top floor (considered 4th by Europeans) of a walk-up building with a digicode-secured entrance in le Marais, Paris. There is a washing machine the apartment, and the studio has a southern exposure of Paris rooftops and an inner courtyard. While the building was built in 1880, the studio itself is very modern and ingeniously divides the space into distinct areas.
The studio features hardwood floors, white walls, wooden elements and contemporary furnishings. The living area has two windows with a southern view, so the studio benefits from much natural light. Furthermore, you can even see the Sacre Coeur in the distance from your window! When you enter the apartment you will find the modern bathroom to your right. The bathroom has a skylight, shower, WC and washbasin. Next to the bathroom is the open kitchen with wooden dining table that seats four. Besides the table a wooden ladder leads up to the sleeping alcove, which features another skylight and a double Japanese tatami bed. The seating area of the apartment is beneath the lofted sleeping alcove. Here you will find a sofa that can be split into two tatami single beds or one double bed, perfect for guests. The sofa faces a flat-screen TV with cable and some lovely pictures of Paris landmarks.
You can find the alcove studio apartment on Rue des Ecouffes, a picturesque narrow street lined with restaurants, between Rue des Rosiers and Rue du Roi de Sicile in le Marais. This historic neighborhood in the 4th Arrondissement is famous for its many galleries, trendy restaurants and cafes, which you will find all around. For an outdoors picnic, you can walk 600 meters (2000 feet) to the Place des Vosges, which is one of the oldest squares in Paris. Alternatively, you can also walk about an equal distance to the Parc Pont Marie and northern bank of the Seine River, where you will have an amazing view of Île Saint-Louis across the river from the breathtaking Hôtel De Ville area. From here you can cross a bridge to Île de la Cité where you will find the iconic Notre Dame Cathedral. To explore other neighborhoods in Paris, you can also catch the 1 train at the Saint-Paul metro station just 4 blocks away from the studio.
