In Paris, colorful doors spruce up the street-level experience. Some boast magnificent carvings. Some brandish deep panels and prominent, decorative molding. Between Rue Reuilly and Rue Tillier, there is a blue double door whose panel swings inwards. On the first floor (equivalent to the second floor in the USA), a furnished studio apartment looks out on some trees.
This is the Reuilly – Diderot area of Paris’s 12th Arrondissement. The 12th Arrondissement is known for having the oldest record of human habitation in what is today the capital city and for having the largest park in the city, Bois de Vincennes.
Two windows in the main room open inwards. They fill the boxy space with light. A sofa folds outwards into a double sofa bed. So, the main room becomes a bedroom. Here is a place for the rush of the city to slow to a pace suitable to unwinding. Also, there is a TV and a bathroom with a shower. Folding the sofa bed up, you convert the space into a living room. There is a dining table, and the room leads to a separate kitchen. In the kitchen you will find a microwave and a fridge and a freezer.
You can take a 3.4 kilometer (around 1.9 mile) trot down to Bois de Vincennes, walking the elevated path of the Promenade Plantée from Rue de Reuilly. There you can find le Chateau Vincennes, le Parc zoologique de Paris (the Paris Zoo), lakes, and amenities for outdoor activities for folk ranging from the parkour enthusiast to the dog lover. If you are a homebody, step on over a few blocks to le Marché d’Aligre and grab something to cook up later. You will find shops and stores and stalls in the street. The restaurants surrounding this apartment rental serve food from a variety of cultures including Asian, European, and American.
At the corner of the block, you can catch the 1 and 8 metro trains as they come to and go from the Reuilly-Diderot Subway Station. Le Paris Gare de Lyon (the Paris Lyon train station) is located just 1.1 kilometers (around 0.7 miles) from this apartment and runs the 1 and 14 metro trains as well as other trains.
