The apartment is awesome in every way, but ir surprised ud that the owner unilateraly decided to change the price of the rent after having signed the contract. After turning in the the apartment she decided that the rent was 900 dollars more. She claimed that in the contract the price was wrong and that she hadn't checked it and that her lawyer said that the price could be changed even after the contract had been signed. Also she wanted to charge me for things she claimed I had broken which were broken since I arrived to the place. |

through your agent by emails, we agreed on the terms: the rent plus $300 per month utilities including cable, internet, phone, electricity, and you stayed 3 mos, in total $900. The tenant reimburses the landlord the utilities fee. However, the lease that provided by your agent didn't mention the utilities fee at all. Without reading carefully, i signed the lease as I have been working with New York Habitat for 9 years and never had an issue. But at the end of your stay, I realized you never paid utilities fee and reviewed all papers. Meanwhile I consulted a lawyer and was told the lease was clearly a mistake base on the emails and I might still have right to collect the utilities fee. Then I brought all factors to your father. He acknowledged it was a mistake and agreed to pay $900 from your security deposit. I appreciate his being fair. I am sorry for the mistake and Thank you very much for staying. |
