Description
1 Bedroom Apartment Rental in Upper West Side (NY-14269)
1 Bedroom, 1 Bathroom - Sleeps 2

Check out the attention to detail that went into furnishing this impressive West 88th Street and Central Park West one-bedroom apartment, not to mention the convenience of being in such an accessible and ideal location. Housed in a historic Upper West Side brownstone, this fifth floor walk-up (known as the 4th floor to Europeans) is distinguished by a decorative fireplace in the living room. The building features a modern security system at entry.

There is wood flooring throughout the apartment. The living room has a relaxed feel, with a sofa, television, and several windows. Wireless internet and air conditioning in the summer are provided. The kitchen has everything you need to cook, such as utensils, pots and pans, and appliances. Your space has southern exposure, with views of the neighboring brownstones’ tree-lined backyards. There’s a double bed in your bedroom, and a walk-in closet is on hand for your belongings. The bathroom is tiled and has a bathtub with shower and WC. Please note that this apartment resides in an absolutely "Smoke Free" building and that no pets are allowed.

Several of New York’s nicest parks are a short walk away, starting with Central Park (0.1mi) one street from the apartment. There’s plenty to explore here, including a zoo and several of Manhattan’s most famous statues and gardens. Recreational activities range from rock climbing and ice skating to hosting one of NYC’s best paths for cycling and running. Riverside Park (0.6mi) to the west has great views of the river and skyline. Walking south on Central Park West will take you to the Museum of Natural History (0.5mi), one of New York City’s most famous institutions. For groceries, cafes, and shopping, head to nearby Columbus Avenue. Bella Luna (495ft), at Columbus and West 88th Street comes highly recommended for its wonderful food and excellent ambiance.

There are several subway lines near the apartment. On 86th Street and Central Park West (495ft) you’ll find the B and C trains, which make local and express stops on the west side of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. The 1 train is also available at 86th Street and Broadway (0.4mi).

Great apartment in a fantastic location, steps from Central Park. Top floor of a five story walk-up, lots of stairs but worth the climb for the value. Very accommodating and nice landlord, would definitely love to rent this apartment again when I return to NYC.

This really is an incredible apartment. The location is great, very close to Central Park on a beautiful block. The living area is spacious and very bright as it is a southern exposure. The same applies to the bedroom. The kitchen is on the small side but provides enough area to work and is also appointed with everything you would need to make dinner.

Both owners were excellent hosts and were extremely helpful and accommodating at all turns.

The only things to note are as follows: a) it's a fifth floor walkup so the stairs can take a week or two to get used to. b) You can get a contract with spectrum for internet / tv but if you don't the internet provided is a bit inconsistent, generally though it was fine for streaming SD moves, if you want to do more budget for Spectrum. c) The block is super quiet except for school pickup time (around 3pm) when there is a good deal of honking. Not the biggest deal and it only lasts about 20 minutes on weekdays.

In general, I can't recommend this apartment enough. It's not every day that NYC real estate gives you a pleasant surprise but this certainly was one instance of that!

It was such a nice experience and a wonderful "home" while we waited for our renovation to be completed. The apartment is clean and extremely quiet. Massimo and Carlo are two of the nicest landlords we have ever experienced, not to mention wonderful human beings. It was really above and beyond what we expected for a short term rental. The neighborhood is also wonderful - a "stones throw" to Central Park and the subway. There are also lots of wonderful restaurants close by! It made being away from our own neighborhood extremely easy and enjoyable!

A lovely building with great hosts and neighbors in a great location. The apartment is bright and spacious. The kitchen and bathroom are both small, but usable. The only critique is the furnishings. They are mismatched hand-me-downs and generally old and uncomfortable. Especially the futon couch.

We are very happy you enjoyed your stay with us.
Thank you for your comments. As for the olde furniture, it was selected and restored in keeping with the style and
the era of the Brownstone.
We as well, enjoyed having you here, and hope you will come back to see us and the City, soon again.

The features on the listing are miss-leading.. need to be corrected (there is no cable, wifi is so slow it's useless)...

Niklas,

To respond to your assesment we would like to highlight the following:

We were in contact toghether on a regular basis and if you had something to review/correct we would have appreciated you talked to us about it during your stay. (You did that about a switch not working and it was replaced promptly.)

Cleanliness for instance:
We require the Tenant to accept monthly cleaning which is organized by us.
If our cleaning lady was not doing the job properly, please tell us.

Condition, Comfort, Amenities:
When the listing says ?cable ready? in the rental trade world, it is understood that the physical cable itself is available in the apartment already, not the connection box for the service and related costs, which needs be requested by the Tenant directly with the provider.
?Wi-fi?. You were tha first Tenant over many years who found the service not to be adequate. We are looking into improving the service.

Building:
A brownstone, old by definition, but in extremely good condition. Maybe you like modern better?

Thank you Niklas for your comments, everything helps to improve what we do !!!

All the best,
Massimo and Carlo
