Here is a unique apartment share in Bedford-Stuyvesant. Inside, natural light, exposed wooden beams and brick—as well as a selection of custom contemporary furniture and antique furniture—combine in a novel aesthetic. Outside, a garden with two waterfalls and a natural swimming pool contribute space to relax. You can rent one bedroom in this duplex apartment.
The apartment has been featured several times on "Open House" on NBCTV and on the cover of "New York Magazine Design Hunting”.
It sits on the first and second floors (equivalent to the ground and first floors in Europe) of a brownstone building in the Bedford-Stuyvesant historic district, near the corner of Decatur Street and Sumner Avenue. There is no elevator in the building.
In total, the shared apartment space is 2,000 square-feet (around 186 m2). You will have access to both floors, the garden, a deck, as well as space under the deck, and the rest of the house. You will have access to the front garden, also.
The bedroom suite on the first floor has an office and bathroom, and there is a summer kitchen. In this bedroom, you will find a double-size bed and a huge 19th-century desk which came here from France. This bedroom has air conditioning in mid and late summer. The bathroom has a glass shower and toilet. The summer kitchen has an extra fridge, a sink, and cabinets. From this floor, you can enter the garden to relax on lounge chairs, swim in the pool, or watch birds play near the waterfalls.
On the second floor, the open kitchen/dining/living room benefits from sunlight let in by a 9-foot by 16-foot glass sliding door (around 3x5 meters). This door leads to a deck which overlooks the garden and pool. There are two wood fireplaces. And there is a separate toilet and bathroom. This bathroom has an antique bathtub, a huge glass medicine cabinet, and a double vanity with two drawers. The walls on this floor have round corners and the layout adheres to principles of Feng Shui.
Art on both floors includes custom-made contemporary furniture, antique family furniture, an 18th-century family painting, family chandeliers, and a family piano from France.
The nearest subway station is the station at Kingston / Throop Avenues and Fulton Street. It runs the C train line, which heads to Lower Manhattan.
