Positioned in the Butte-aux-cailles district, this furnished alcove studio is in a village-like oasis in Paris' otherwise contemporary 13th arrondissement, and offer a convenient base whether you are exploring Paris as a tourist or for an extended stay. Located on the ground floor of a 20th century building with digicode, this charming studio tastefully combines antique furnishings with modern facilities and has the convenience of a separate office area.
The concept of this apartment is inspired by the Japanese style, which leaves an empty space on the floor thanks to space-saving storage ideas (Murphy bed, wall-mounted flat screen TV). The Murphy bed not only saves space when not in use, but also adds versatility to a space. Furnished with a relaxing leather armchair with its matching footstool, living room #1 provides a comfortable atmosphere for you to enjoy cable TV or your favorite DVD! Furnished with a wooden desk, a bookcase and a large closet, living room #2 can be used as an office or as a walk-in closet. Both of these rooms have windows with a northeastern exposure overlooking the street. The marble breakfast bar and high stools in the kitchen add a modern touch to the studio, contrasting with the exposed ceiling beams. In the kitchen you will find everything you might need, from a full range of wall units to store your food to all the basic amenities to prepare your meals at home. The modern all white bathroom is equipped with a shower and a washer/dryer combo.
At Rue de la Butte aux Cailles and Rue Barrault, you will be situated in a hilly area, between the city's biggest Chinatown district at Metro Tolbiac and the sprawling Place D’ Italie, in the district also known as the "arrondissement des Gobelins". With its narrow cobblestone streets featuring quirky restaurants, cafes and boutiques, and picturesque villas with original gardens, The Butte aux Cailles is definitely a place to come if you're looking for a village-like feel with easy access to the rest of Paris. Take advantage of your stay in this area to discover its well-known art-nouveau architecture: only 100 meters (330 feet) west on Rue de Daviel you will two quaint villas, Little Alsace and Little Russia. These were once worker's villas built to resemble traditional buildings in Northern France and Russia. 400 meters (1300 feet) east on Place Paul Verlaine sits one of the city's most beautiful municipal swimming pools, whose facade and interiors feature many elements of the art nouveau style. For dining, shopping and nightlife in the neighborhood, Rue de la Butte aux Cailles and Rue des Cinq Diamants are the two main options. 280 meters away (920 ft), the restaurant Chez Gladines serves authentic French Basque and southwest dishes in a convivial and laid back setting. Right across the street from there, Le temps des Cerises serves delicious, mid-range favorites including steamed mussels. A large shopping mall can be found at Place d'Italie, 900 m away (0.55 miles).
The closest subway station from your studio is Corvisart, served by the M6. You can take it for one stop and transfer at Place d'Italie to lines 5 and 6. M5 will take you to Gare D'Austerlitz in only 3 stops, providing easy commute to and from Paris.

Comfortable, well-equipped apartment with modern amenities such as in-unit washer/dryer, induction cooktop (safe AND adds extra counter space -- a bonus in any small Parisian kitchen), and wall-mounted flatscreen TV. The second room, though not big enough for a bed, is great for working and storage. |

Thank you for your very useful comments Nandita. Indeed, I pay very close attention to ensure the best welcome to our guests. The issues you had with the TV and the Internet connection came from our provider Bouygues that set up a wider and faster data transmission via optical cable. |
