History and nature hide outside your door with this modern alcove studio in the lively Mouffetard district of Paris, situated in the 5th arrondissement. This studio’s interior has a loft-like feel, with wide open spaces and three sets of double windows. It is on the 2nd floor (considered the 3rd by Americans) of an 18th century walk-up building, allowing natural light to flood the apartment, unobstructed by other buildings. A digicode system provides entrance for guests. Yet you have the best of both worlds here, for as soon you step out of building, you will begin to notice ancient details like cobble-lined private street. The greenery of the passageway is present all year round, and echoes the vibrancy you’ll find in the nearby Jardin des Plantes, Paris’ largest botanic garden.
This alcove studio is furnished with all the amenities needed to enjoy your trip in Paris. The main room is divided into 2 parts by a small wall, allowing for semi-privacy and flexible sleeping accommodations. The living area is furnished with a sofa-bed, a coffee table and a TV with cable for your entertainment, while the sleeping area has a double-sized bed. There is also a closet near the sleeping area and a second closet where you can store your belongings. Next to the windows, you'll find a table with chairs, a wonderful place for enjoying a meal in the sunlight. Standing at the windows, you'll see the trees of the opposite courtyard and hear the birds singing in the morning! Full meals can be prepared in the kitchen, equipped with a fridge, an oven, a coffee maker, a toaster, a microwave and a dishwasher. A washing machine adds another convenient element to this apartment. Wireless Internet is available throughout the apartment.
A stroll about the Mouffatard neighborhood outside will introduce you to its many charms: about 3 blocks away, you’ll find the popular market street, Rue Mouffetard, with fresh produce and artisanal products like cheese and honey. The village atmosphere of the area invites you to stop and have café on an open terrace brasserie, or grab a pastry from one of the many bakeries. There is also a lively nightlife scene – rue Monge is just 200 meters (about 650 feet) from the apartment, and has restaurants and bars to suit a variety of tastes. There is a movie theatre about 500 meters (a little over a quarter of a mile) from the apartment, and the huge Jardin des Plantes is even closer. The Seine River borders this park, and is particularly lovely at night. Other attractions within walking distance include the Arènes de Lutèce (an ancient Roman amphitheater), the Panthéon, the Sorbonne Univsersity, and the famous Notre-Dame Cathedral.
To travel around the rest of Paris, the closest metro stations to this accommodation are Censier Daubenton (Line 7) and Saint Marcel (Line 5), connecting to the Place d’Italie, the Gare d’Austelitz and RER C and Paris’ right bank.
