Typically Parisian, this Marais studio has classic details with thoughtful decoration that will make you want to make it yours! It is situated on the 2nd floor (equivalent to the 3rd floor for Americans) of a walk-up building classified as a historical monument with a double digicode system. The apartment has details like exposed wood beams, wall moldings and rustic red tiled floors, and offer the convenience of a washing machine.
The convenient layout of this alcove studio makes it great for day-to-day living as well as having guests over. The sleeping alcove with the double bed is upstairs on the mezzanine level (with ceiling of 1.55 meters or about 5 feet), while the living area, kitchen and bathroom are downstairs. The furniture is a mix of the contemporary and the classic -- for example, upstairs you have a desk and chair set in the antique Louis XV style mixed with a modern dresser and butterfly chair. Downstairs, the candle chandelier mounted on the high ceiling (3.7 meter or 12 feet) adds an antique touch to the rest of the contemporary pieces. The walls and sofa bed are a neutral grey, keeping the room light, but a pink accent rug and throw-pillows add character to the room.
The kitchen is compact and mostly separate, but has the benefit of an internal window that opens to the living area, allowing for easy communication and transport of your finished meals to the dining table. It is here you will find the washing machine, as well as a combination microwave and oven unit and two electric burners. You also have a coffee maker, hot water boiler and toaster for easy breakfasts! Another benefit of this studio is that it has a full bathroom with a bathtub and wall-mounted shower head.
Outside your door, you'll find yourself in the heart of the Le Marais district. Don't worry, the owners of the apartment will be happy to provide you with maps and guides to make you feel at home quickly! The building is situated on a pedestrian street found between larger thoroughfares, near the intersection of Rue Saint Martin and the Rue Saint-Merri. One of the largest modern art museums in the world, the Pompidou Center, is just half a block from your apartment! Many other art galleries can be found in the neighborhood, which may be why the streets are also lined with cafés, bars and trendy restaurants. Check out the Rue de la Verrerie, around the corner from your apartment, for a fun night out. You can get tapas at Les Pietons or try more typical French fare at le Pavé. If you are looking to go shopping, the Rue du Rivoli is less than 3 blocks away, and has an H&M as well as many other sought-after stores and the Les Halles mall is also in the area. For relaxing outdoors, join the students at the Place des Vosges, a popular place to hang out just a block from the Seine. Other tourist spots in the 4th arrondissement include the Cathedral of Notre Dame and the Hotel de Ville Palace.
If you feel the need to visit other part of Paris, it won't be hard between the Hôtel de Ville metro station just 300 meters away (less than a quarter of a mile), which serves lines 1 and 11, and the Châtelet-Les Halles station gives you access to Lines 1, 4, 11, 14 AND the RER A, B and D! The latter is only 700 meters from the apartment (less than half a mile) and is great for when you need to reach airports or train stations around Paris. The Rambuteau stop is also in the vicinity.

The location of this apartment is in a very vibrant and close-to-everything area. I was happily surprised with the selection of amenities the apartment was provided with. Hair dryer, curling iron, array of cooking utensils, linens ample storage and a comfortable bed. The only thing missing was a knife block from the kitchen, but I purchased some steak knives to get me by for my stay. All the appliances were in great condition and worked perfectly. I only had issues with the cable staying on when trying to listen to the tv, but granted I didn't watch tv very much it didn't really bother me. The landlords are very communicative and friendly and are happy to help if any issue arose. I would definitely recommend this apartment for anyone who wants to be in the center of Paris. You're literally right around the corner from the Centre Pompidou, walking distance to Notre Dame, Le Louvre, Le Marais and Saint Michelle. 3 Métro stations less than 5 minute walk from the flat and great shopping and dining nearby. The street is pretty quiet, mostly foot traffic during the day and the occasional noisy passerby at night but I only noticed because I was awake studying, never woken up by exterior sounds. The neighbors are nice and have have kids, so expect the typical family dynamic from the neighbors. Overall, a great experience and if definitely stay in this flat again. |
