Description
2 Bedroom Apartment Rental in Latin Quarter (PA-668)
2 Bedrooms, 2 Bathrooms - Sleeps 4

Paris’ Latin Quarter (Quartier Latin) has always been known for its university atmosphere thanks to the famous Sorbonne, however its bohemian vibe has been supplanted over the years with fine eateries and artisanal shops. This two bedroom apartment is well situated to appreciate all of these things, and is especially near to Jussieu (both the university and the metro stop), the Panthéon and the Jardin des Plantes, a huge botanical garden bordering the Seine. The apartment is on the 4th floor (considered 5th by Americans) of a walk-up building found on a small, calm street near the intersection of Rue Linné and Rue Guy de la Brosse. A digicode system provides entry to the building.

Highlights of the apartment include:

  • Two bedrooms furnished with a double bed and two single size beds, providing flexible sleeping accommodations (owner is willing to help rearrange furniture upon request)
  • Two full bathrooms, enhancing privacy in the apartment
  • A combination washing machine/dryer
  • Beautiful inlaid herringbone hardwood floors
  • Decorative fireplaces in the living room, kitchen and both bedrooms
  • Fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, toaster and coffee maker in addition to a combination stove/oven and refrigerator with separate freezer
  • Closets and empty shelving in both bedrooms
  • Flat screen TV in the living room
  • Double glazed windows

…with all these amenities, you might be tempted to stay in – if you are, just remember these great parts about the neighborhood of the 5th arrondissement:

  1. Jussieu: the university campus (which also houses Université Pierre et Marie Curie) is literally at the end of the street. The Jussieu metro stop, serving lines 7 and 10, is just 240m (about .2mi) from the apartment, perfect for accessing all of Paris.
  2. Jardin des Plantes: whether you want to enjoy the zoo, have a picnic or have a cultural visit to the Museum of Natural History, you can easily access all these options with a quick stroll from the apartment (210m/.1mi).
  3. Dining out: some of the most popular restaurants in the Latin Quarter line Rue Linné, which begins less than 100m (under .1mi) from the apartment. Terroir Parisien, a little further, is a hidden gem of Paris (550m/.3mi). A great bakery in the area is Maison Kayser (650m/.4mi) on Rue Monge.
Amenities:
  • Cable,
  • TV,
  • DVD,
  • Internet,
  • Laundry inside the apartment,
  • Dryer,
  • Pets allowed,
  • Smoking not permitted,
  • No elevator

This apartment was just lovely. I stayed here for five months with two of my friends, and we were all students. The apartment was spacious, and well laid out. Two big rooms, perfect to fit two people in each, and two large bathrooms. The kitchen was nicely connected to the living room, giving it a real communal feel. The location was fantastic! The metro stop is about a minute away, but we often chose to walk places, especially considering the safety of the neighbourhood. There are plenty of fun and social bars near the apartment (with great happy hour prices!), but far enough away so that noise isn't a problem. The Jardin des Plantes, which is about a minute away, was one of the coolest spots in Paris, and often a nice refuge from the bustle of the city. By far the best component of the apartment, however, was the "landlord." Him and his family were so accommodating and constantly checked in on us. He even offered to pick us up from the airport. He was quick to replace anything that may have been malfunctioning, and when we had a minor water leak in one of the bathrooms, he had a plumber attend to the issue within hours. He replaced two twin beds with a queen, at our request, and provided the mattress, bedding, and frame. He was quite flexible with payment deadlines as well. A truly kind soul. I could not recommend this apartment more!

Owner's apt was really well located and was very close to my school. Owner was always very easy to reach in case of difficulty and apt was well-sized. Despite being on the fourth floor without elevator, walk up was easy to get used to. The only issue I can find with it is sometimes the wifi was spotty or the fridge stopped working and people in the building would blame us for seemingly random things especially towards the end of the stay without cause or reason. However, overall, apartment was very nice and owner was very kind and easy to reach.

Very pleasant guests. It was a pleasure to welcome them.
Regarding the unstable wifi connexion, I think I have to change of provider: I am no longer satisfied with Free. I have this provider at home and I also have bugs.
Regarding the fridge, it was because of a misuse : When the tenants left I cleaned it, which obviously hasn't been done during the whole stay considering what remained inside, and it started working perfectly again. The leftover food and sauce had clogged all the air circulations and sensors ...
As for the reproaches of noise made by the residents, I confirm that the building is populated by very calm people, actually sensitive to the noise of heavy footsteps on the stairs (tapping on the steps instead of gently putting one's foot down), or door slamming. I was not there to check ...
Thanks for everyrthing.

For the past 8 years, we have been renting apartments to spend the summer in Paris. Although we have enjoyed our stay in different apartments, this apartment is the best place we have ever stayed. There are three reasons we loved our stay:

1. The apartment
The place was spacious and spotless. It has a large living area with kitchen, dining and living space. Every thing you could possibly need in the kitchen. Large refrigerator, stove, microwave, dishwasher, tons of cabinets, pots and pans, dishes, etc. It's pretty much what we were used to at home. The dining area and living area were comfortable and spacious as well. The two bedrooms are large, have lots of closet space and the owner even had little storage bins. I had to work there and the bedroom my mate and I used had a large table that I used for my laptop, printer and notebooks. There are two full bathrooms - one of which has a washing machine that can also dry. It's four flights up but worth the climb.

2. The owner
He is really nice and constantly checked in with us to insure that we had what we needed. He even helped us take our suitcases up and down when we arrived and left and he was able to drive us to the train station when we left.

3. The location
We love staying in the 5th. The apartment is very close to the Jardin des Plantes, an area with museums, children's zoo, botannical gardens, archeology exihibits and more. It's great just to stroll through on a sunny day. It is also near the Sorbonne Institute for Physics and many other interesting places including the remnants of a Roman Amphitheater. The Seine is also nearby and the area also has lots of nice restaurants and bistros. For transportation, the metro is near as well as the Gare de Austerlitz train station.

We stayed in the apartment for four months, and it was a great experience. Vincent was extremely responsive and did everything he could to make our stay comfortable. He checked in consistently to ensure everything was running smoothly in the flat. The rooms are very spacious, the kitchen is updated with modern appliances, and the bathrooms are clean and well designed. The kitchen was well stocked, making it easy to cook meals every day. The apartment is on the fourth floor with no elevator, which is something to keep in mind. I highly recommend renting out this apartment.

The apartment is quite old, but well maintained. We have had only a few problems with the kitchen plumbing system, due to its age.
The location is the best one can get in Paris. The neighborhood is frequented by students during the day, and is very calm and quiet at night.
The landlord is a very nice person, extremely helpful and attentive to our needs.

Hello Aurelio,
It was a real pleasure to welcome you during your studies (I hope that you and your colleagues graduated).
You were well-mannered, responsible and very friendly... The perfect hosts!
I even was lucky enough to taste the Italian specialties and amazing pasta dishes you cooked.
We arranged the apartment together to meet your needs: adding extra furnishings, moving beds...
You were very accommodating during this unpleasant episode with plumbing, which was settled in two goes as the plumber did not change everything the first time. Now it's brand new!
Since you left and as I don't have any tenant now, I took advantage of this period to go through all the rooms as a precaution... The living room and the dining room are already painted entirely...
I recommend these tenants to all owners, you can welcome them in total confidence...
Best regards
Vincent

We loved this apartment. The location was extraordinary - right down the street from the beautiful Jardins des Plantes, across from a university - giving us a view of student life rather than tourists, and in a fun and active neighborhood but on a quiet street.
The owner also could not be be beat - He was responsive to our questions and extended himself in many ways, including providing lots of sheets and towels for the nights 7 people slept comfortably in the apartment.
Staying in this apartment was a wonderful experience.
It was a wonderful experience.

Amazing appartment, lived there for 6 months and couldn't want more. Very good location, the metro station is almost right in front of the building and the lines 7 and 10 went almost everywhere I needed. Very well organized and complete, it has everything someone needs. Other than that, the owner is very friendly and helpful. Always staying in contact, if I needed anything he would help me with it. Had a wonderful time here, would definitely recommend to anyone.

This apartment was fantastic. It is located conveniently in the 5th arrondissement, an easy walk from touristy things like Notre Dame but also to Le Marais and the artsier parts of Paris. The area is quiet without being boring. There is SO MUCH LIGHT in the apartment, due to numerous windows and its location on the 4th floor (this, if you are not healthy, can be a problem as there is no elevator). It is absolutely delightful to sit in the spacious living room or to cook with the natural light pouring in. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms, which is extremely convenient when multiple people are around. The sole downside is the washing machine / dryer. It washes things well, but "dry" is a vast over statement. Nonetheless, there is a drying rack so that one can apply the tried and true old fashioned method.

The apartment owner could not possibly be nicer or more helpful. I have never in my entire life dealt with a landlord or lessor who was so absolutely determined to please the tenants. Because we had to exchange currency, he worked with us to pay rent in a very easy way and was constantly asking if we needed anything.

If I ever have the opportunity to come back to Paris, I will definitely try to stay in this apartment again.

To see Michele and Patrick again was a real pleasure. They are wonderful people.

Thank you for the commendations on the apartment...

Regarding the washing machine, I tried it out with some clothes and a terry towel. There are three drying programs. Just with the second one, everything was completely dry (the button just needed to be set on "11").

All the best to both of you

Sincerely yours

Vincent

Apartment was great for us four girls studying abroad for the semester. Plenty of living space and bedrooms were big enough for two people (even got our own closets).

Only thing to improve would be to warm up the decoration of the living room. Definite plus that laundry (washer and dryer) were in our apartment, as well as having two bathrooms.

Apartment is also less than 2 minute walk to 10 and 7 Metro lines or bus station which made it extremely easy to get around the city. Great time in this apartment and would highly recommend it!

Owner was more than happy to help with any of our problems and was very flexible about everything.

Madeline, thank you for your review and your and your roommates' irreproachable behavior.

Regarding the decoration, I try to have something simple that appeals to everybody and I did not furnish the apartment with objects or furniture of value so as to avoid disputes in case of damages.

However, I am open to any suggestion you may have in this regard. It is with pleasure that I will receive any suggestion that is not too costly.

I hope to see you again,

Vincent

The owner was super helpful and accessible. He was very kind and helped me with many things I needed, from where to buy CDs, to putting a fan together for me.

The only thing I would change, is I would put the bed up on a frame, and put a good mattress pad on the mattress. The one I had slid around and caused the sheets to wrinkle under me, which was a tad uncomfortable.

Dear Barbara,
First I want to thank you for the positive evaluation you gave to the apartment. You've been a five stars guest too and it would be a pleasure to have you again, as you said you wanted to come back one day.

Regarding the point mentioned, I am so sorry you didn't notify me about that before. In regards to the mattress pad, there is a new set of sheet for the bed in the closet, I should have reminded you.

We have been communicating so much each other, I truly regret that you didn't talk about that. However, your comment is interesting : I will focus on this point with the next hosts.

Please say "hello" to your husband, and you can be sure it will be a pleasure for me to see you again in Paris.

Best regards
