When Rue Monge intercepts Rue des Écoles in Paris, it forms a small, almost triangle-shaped pocket in the 5th Arrondissement. This spot is filled with trees and called Square Paul Langevin. The buildings nearby are the color of sandstone. Finely wrought balusters decorate their upper stories. And a dozen shops show off wares at street level. Here you will find a furnished studio apartment with a washing machine—in the Latin Quarter of La Sorbonne. It sits on the third floor (equivalent to the fourth floor in the USA) above the scene.
Your heels will click on snowy tile flooring as you enter this furnished rental. A bar-like low wall segments the main room into two connected yet distinct spaces. In the first room, you will find a double bed, a sofa, a TV, and room to work through the day’s events at a desk. In the other, you will find the washing machine, a fridge/freezer combination unit, and a microwave. There is room in this second space to sit and eat. If you look out the window here, you will find that this apartment sits behind an intricate balustrade of its own. You can refresh yourself at the window—in the sunlight—or you can pop into the bathroom and take advantage of the tub and shower to freshen up.
Situated 500 meters (around 0.3 miles) from l'Île de la Cité, this apartment rental is in the neighborhood of some of the best the city has to offer. You will find le Panthéon also 500 meters (around 0.3 miles) from the apartment, and find la Place de la Bastille 1.5 km (around a mile). It is a 2 kilometer (around a mile and a quarter) walk from the apartment to le Louvre; much of this walk is along a quay on the edge of la Seine, passing the shadow of Notre-Dame de Paris and Sainte-Chapelle. The apartment sits almost dead-center between the various campuses of la Sorbonne Université (Sorbonne University), with the farthest two being only a kilometer (around 0.6 miles) distant. Yet you do not need to trek even this far to encounter something special. Many of the shops on the block and on the surrounding blocks are specialty shops and bookstores. Here there are movie theaters and grocers and restaurants galore.
You can catch line 10 of the Paris metro at the Jussieu, Maubert-Mutualité, and Cardinal Lemoine subway stations. Jussieu also services the 7 line and so does Place Monge. These stations are located 600 meters (around 0.37 miles) or less from the apartment. You can walk a kilometer (around 0.6 miles) to catch the B line at the Luxembourg Station.
